Sergio Busquets

It is bizarre the way Xavi lets Busquets go and hunt the ball and vacate his position of protecting the defence.

Seems he wants the full backs to tuck in and cover when he does but that causes more issues out wide and opposition wide players/full backs arrive in the space.

Alves and Alba have looked clueless at times trying to defend that DM area and not knowing if should go looking for ball or stay wider and do neither.

One of worst examples of this was Villareal at end of season. Check Alves on these two goals.. he is chasing shadows in DM with Busi out of position and Villareal take advantage of space wide both times.

Busi is never out of position, the others are at fault for not covering. Villarreal players also should get blamed for pressing him, and taking advantage of the space he left behind. Not cool from them.

His set up works better when teams open up and could hit the front three early while more open game allowed likes of FDJ to move more and take advantage of the space.

As time went on teams stopped doing that and got wise to sitting deep, keeping defenders between front three and forcing the cross.
I don't see how that's true. Teams have never 'opened up' against Barca, not even in our worst times, certainly not recently. You keep repeating this theory, but don't see the evidences. Absolute majority of teams, even in Europe park the bus. There are some teams that always open up, because it's their style (eg Villareal), but that's it. And why didn't they open up right in the first months after Xavi started, but only a few in, but the decided to close down again?

Naah, i think there's something different. The Busquets worship among the most influential factors.

Because of Barca's salary deferrals, 150m will be owed to Jordi Alba, Piqu? and Busquets in the next two years. [Diario Sport]

Seems like they didn't lower their salary at all and instead deferred a chunk of it, if Barca owe them that much. I'll forgive them for Roma and Liverpool if they let go at least half of this money go, otherwise it's just sickening.

Nobody is leaving money on the table when they have a signed contract. People should stop fantasysing and be real.

Players have contracts signed and they're not here to do charity work. Just as club doesn't run as a charity. Deferrals is one thing, giving up money the club owes you is just wishful thinking by fans.

A cool 25m each, but like malvolio said no one leaves money on the table, especially millionaires & billionaires, we gave them contracts that paid them for what they did, not what they will be able to do, & that's what has caused almost all our financial issues.

Paying players for past Glory not potential future success.

It's not even about being a billionaire or millionaire.
Otherwise what would be the point in using legal contracts?

Us poor bastards on the forum might think that if we would be in the same position we would have just let go of a couple of millions. But that's bullshit talk from people who never worked for a salary.

Wouldnt be surprised if the club renew him for couple seasons on a wage to cover deferrals due.. but then hopefully loan him off to states.

So for example if he would be owed 20m.. they split that by 3 and pay him it end of contract and over next couple years while loaned out elsewhere.

The club de amigos group have been proved very much correct. Bartomeu put so much money into these veterans that their influence become enormous, and such big financial liabilities that none could be shipped, sold or cut.

Disaster.

If Alba, Busi, and Pique care about the club then they should accept another deferral with interest since it's not like they'd need or spend the money in the next year or two anyways.
