Benzema hasnt been cack, he just hasnt had a chance. He's not allowed the ball because Raul pretty much acts as a one man strikeforce, what is Benzema supposed to do? Tell "the leader of the dressing room" to fuck off? Raul is hindering Benzema's progress

Raul hasn't helped but did Raul make Benzema miss all those chances? Or give the ball away all the time? Oh yeh I remember Raul pushed him away when he missed that chance at the Sanchez Pizjuan. He's massively overrated.

No

He has not become a bad manager overnight. It takes more than a few months to sort out the problems Madrid had last year and to assimilate all the new players to his tactical system.

I would definitely stick with him for this season because quite simply you'll be entering the same problems with every new manager.

A manager needs to implement his ideals and ideas on the squad he needs to try out systems to fit his players and that takes time.

So I would give him time.

I don't think the generalization applies Pippo , most players last night and even most of them par CR,Kaka & Benzema received less then humble media coverage and not known to be arrogant .
Manu is supported by Valdano fully and i don't think it's a case of the management telling them they are the best in the world at least not with CR or Kaka not playing , it's those other soldiers behind them who he can't motivate .
failing to motivate players has nothing to do with their statues .. see Capello with Becks,Ronaldo & Cassano

I know not all players are given the complete fanfare of Cristiano, Kaka' and Benzema, but they are all subject the repeated club + media rhetoric of Madrid being the pinacle of club football.

The reason I have come to that conclussion is that in the last 5 Madrid games I have seen, (2 of which were in the flesh, none of which were victories), the players haven't shown respect to their opponent. Whether its Alcorcon or Milan, virtually every player has not been giving their all for the full 90 minutes. Flashes of their abbility, but nothing more.

The difference is maybe in what we judge to be the cause of that. You say its Manu's failing as a manager, maybe. But a Villarreal he was able to motivate a squad, containing perhaps sluggish players, (Riquelme), and make them run, run , run at opponents every game, all season. So for me its not so simple as Manu is poor at his job, there must be more to it than that.

I also want to add, that for all his failings and criticisms, in the two games I went to with Milan and in El Molinon, Drenthe was the only player to actually put in a alot of effort and run for the whole game, so I don't wish to include him in my statements on the squad.

good shout about Drenthe , he was running his socks off yesterday .

IMO it's always a question of : should the manager install a tactic he likes and push the players to use it OR find a tactic/formation that suit the players u have ?

I personally would play

Ramos-----Pepe------Albiol-------Drenthe/Marcelo
----------Lass-----Diarra-----Xabi---------
---------------------Kaka
---------------Higuain------CR--------------

4-3-1-2 (my fav with the current squad) or

Ramos-----Pepe------Albiol-------Drenthe/Marcelo
----------Lass-----Diarra-----Xabi---------
---------------Kaka--------CR-----------
--------------------Higuain------

u know ^^^ this formation ;) ..

allow the full backs to go as far as possible with 3 dogs protecting the midfield especially that Gago-Granero-Guti can all play in the center (maybe not as good as some )

I think you're close to the truth here and for me the attitude of the current real madrid is summed up by Pepe taunting Fernando Torres because Liverpool had only won 5 European Cups, Torres quite rightly quipped "but how many have you won?". I think that right now players are arriving at real madrid and they're seeing the history as some sort of personal accolade which they can claim for themselves rather than as something to aspire to. Players being presented at the Bernabéu in front of all the European cups when they weren't the players that won them is just wrong, we all know what's in the madrid trophy cabinet yet players are arriving and thinking they've already won the lot. The attitude of entitlement and an arrogance that means the players believe they can win matches without getting off the coach is prevalent in the CL more than anywhere, a competition in which madrid have been booted out in the first KO stage since they last won the cup. The belief that madrid "own" the European cup means they don't go out there to give everything because they believe they should be given it all to begin with.

I agree with Cal. Benzema will prove to be a massive flop. Can't just blame Raúl.

Time for panic button in the Spanish capital again?

I mean, how can they be that STUPID in Madrid. It definately isn't Pellegrini's fault if the players aren't interested. I think if they would have played Castilla players instead of the bench players from the first team they could have even won that match. Maybe it was Pellegrini's fault that they lost yesterday but playing badly before the game should be forgettable for the president and co.

The main question reads: How stupid can man be?

And for the vote, I say no.

Raul can't be blamed for everything can he? I mean, Pellegrini can not be responsible for bad passing, defense, and missing chances. Sacking him would mean more disruption and upheaval in Madrid, and that is not good for getting results. He must be at least given this season, perhaps next. Never thought that missing CR7 would cause Madrid to have this bad a run, but eh.

i voted no, he needs more time but will probably not get it if he loses a game in the next couple of weeks. its sad to see a classy manager like himself be caught in this situation.

I don't know if you guys have discussed this but what about Zidane taking over? He would lift the team greatly and also understand how to manage the youth.
