Crazy how this current Spain team is still really young.

Play this right and they will peak in the WC 2030 held in Spain.

They are light at CF and their starting CBs aren't exactly great either.

I don't practically rate Laporte, nor Le Normand all that high.

So if I'm not wrong the three overage players are Miranda, Gomez and Abel. Weird selection. Or they're chosen because they go well with the group?

Ansu could've been selected without restrictions btw. Another L for him.

So they will be playing third in E or F. I think neither Georgia or the Czechs will win tonight, so that eliminates F. I am gonna go for Slovakia from group E. If Belgium win and the other game is a draw it will be the Slovaks in third (if I am correct there).

You can't underestimate any opponent but Spain should really be winning that, IF all of the above occurs. Then it would be Germany or Denmark (likely the former).

They're a serious team, really impressive. The pressing, the way they squeeze the space and smother the other team. The little triangles and combinations in midfield, how well drilled they are. They look like the only team in international football who play like a well-oiled club side.

And now, they have serious threat on the wings and in behind with the pace and trickery and crossing of Williams and Yamal. They still miss too many chances for my liking, but they're brilliant to watch and a real treat for the eyes. The Germany game will be a big test and it will be interesting to see how it goes. I don't think Kroos will control the ball against the Spaniards, that is for certain.

I would add Germany, Argentina and Uruguay there as well.

Otherwise, great post.

Thanks, and yeah maybe those three are close too.

But I just feel nobody has the cohesion and synergy Spain does. It's a remnant from the Barca days - they've taken that philosophy and it has never left them, long after Xavi, Iniesta etc have departed.

Very impressive game. OK it was Georgia, and Spain pumped them 7-1 in qualifying, but still they overcome a goal deficit which can be difficult in international knockout and played with a great intensity, speed and verticality. Something Spain missed with LE who had too much impotency. But then in his defence he never had Lamine and Nico who he would probably be playing (as subs behind Ferran and Olmo?)

Perhaps Grimaldo is a better player but Cucurella has been incredible for the teams setup so far. It's sacrilegious that these two were never given a shot here. Cucu more so than Grimaldo.

Also has to be said, Morata is working very well tactically, and this version of him is not totally useless without the reliance of being the only goalscorer in the 11.

Last point, this one goes out to all those who believe that it was only Busi or Busi. Spain showing very well that the solution to move away from a Busi or Busi single pivot system, is to flip the structure to suit the replacements. Barca take note.

Good points, some credit must be given to Ruiz, who has been excellent beside rodri, he's criminally underrated here, primarily because he's chosen to secure the bag before football at multiple points in his career, but he's a very good player.

Rodri is the heart and soul of the team, the only man in world football capable of replacing busquets and barto missed out on him not once, but twice.
