Great for Marchand and Ledecky too. Though as I say it's hard to watch this with the suspicion that plenty of these athletes may be doping. ledecky and Marchand in particular look superhuman. Marchand is destroying specialists in their own events. Maybe they are that good but it's hard to accept or believe.

What I will say despite the above is that swimming is quickly becoming my second favourite sport after football (though still a very distant second). Something about it is so entertaining, even if it is relatively niche. I also like that there are so many medals up for grabs.

I missed Phelps's heyday but I did watch swimming in Rio Olympics and found it interesting. This time I wanna try and maintain my interest in it (and track and field) beyond the Olympics and keep abreast of it (lol) at the World and European Championships etc.

Edit - Phelps was in Rio and did well. I think I remember it now. i missed his absolutely peak in 2008, though.

On topic - more swimming this morning, heats coming up in an hour or two. I will watch them while doing some work from home on my computer. I am gonna miss the swimming when it ends at the weekend, but then the athletics will start. I think I prefer swimming to track and field, though.

Interestingly they have switched it for LA in 2028 - athletics first week, swimming second week.

I thought that Dressel was gonna miss out on the top sixteen in the men's 50 m heats there, but he made it I think.

Australia were immense in the women's 4 times 200 m freestyle relay heats, they are the favourites and should win gold, but one of the takeovers was extremely close to a disqualification lol. What a story that would have been.

Four finals and three sets of semi-finals tonight in the swimming, Loving this.

Carini, female Italian boxer gave up crying after 46 seconds because her opponent Khelif from Algeria hit too hard. Turns out this same boxer was disqualified last year in the world championchips because her testostehrone level was too high to be seen as a "woman". How the hell does Olympia allow this? Athletes prepare for years for Olympia only to face this shit? Olympia promotes men beating women in the face now.
