Thiago Silva

Made me think of Maicon's goal in the 2010 world cup. Some Brazilian magic :p

About the Roberto Carlos goal, did he later talk about whether or not it was his intention to score ?

It was intended ... RC cross with the side of his boots and shoot with the top of his boots.. you can see in the replay it was a shot...
this was the year he was superb (season 97/98 ) in shooting 6 month before he scored his famous goal in France with the curved free kick and this goal was scored in Feb 98 couple of month afterwards

roberto carlos was the specialist of outside curve. And for me this proves it even more than the goal vs france cause it was a so difficult angle...

He would have made a HUGE difference vs Bayern. We need a CB and I guess it took a 4-0 thumping for it to be clear to management. Silva should have been bought over the summer.

Silva is injury prone and not that young. He'd be perfect if he weren't so injury prone, but as it stands, I don't think he'd be the best option if we could somehow get him.

He's 28. I wish everyone would stop acting as if he was 45. He's at the absolute best age, and seeing that he is a CB, if he continues to play well and consistently, he could still be among the best for at least 3-4 years.

Perhaps he could be available in the summer?
It looks like the PSG project is collapsing. Rumors about Ibra, Carlo, Leonardo leaving, the taxes etc.

While I'd like someone younger, his age isn't really what I'd have a big problem with. It's the injury-proneness. Which, like I've said before, is the last thing we need.

Still, I think he'd be perfect for us if he weren't so injury prone.

PSG certainly won't fall apart, they have all the money in the world. That said I am pretty sure that the big stars (Ibra, Silva) won't stay more than two seasons.
This summer seems impossible for Silva though

cheers Beast for the explanation
