I believe there is more to the story here than other side is leading on. I really hope the club can pull this one off. It's all we need.

Would you like him to come to the club and get paid more than Xavi and Iniesta? Thats what it would take, on top of a massive transfer fee for a 29 year old.

He is best defender in world but can see why the club are reluctant to pay so much money.

I honestly think that we should go after someone younger and let him go. Like we are only going to get 3-4 years of his prime and that's assuming he doesn't have any serious injuries again which we all know will pop up. We already have enough of a problem with Puyol being injury prone, if T.Silva gets injured then we are back where we started with no one besides Mascherano, Bartra and unfortunately Adriano to play as a CB.

For the money we will have to pay to P$G plus his salary, it would be wiser to go for younger CBs like Marquinhos, Inigo Martinez and possibly David Luiz (listed in my order of preference) who aren't injury prone and can be a part of the club for a long time.

We need a long term solution to our CB problems, not a short fix that will fizzle out in 5 years. If we signed both Martinez and Marquinhos (we could get both for around 55 mil if we don't include players, what we will have to pay to even get P$G's attention for TS), then we have two very solid CB prospects that with time can easily grow to become a part of the future backbone of our defense.

Martinez in particular makes a lot of sense since he has La Liga experience and first team experience. 18 mil + Afellay. For Marquinhos, 22 mil + Bojan, done deal.

I agree, and by then maybe there will be more CB options...but we need him now and 4 years is fine

Agreed...if we get 3/4 out of one of the best CBs in the world, it gives us time to scout/bring on from our own ranks future replacements.

BUT...back-up players must get some minutes on the park; we cant play Silva/Pique EVERY game and then get found out in an injury crisis.

Sure there will be rotation, but the point is getting him now that we have the biggest problems

I think, it's senseless. PSG does not need any money and I don't think that we would trade Alves and Pedro for Silva. Maybe all of us would consider this trade as absoluteley great but IMO the managment would never do this. Furthermore, it is completely irrelevant if Silva will want to join Barca. He has 4 years left in his contract and you see it with Lewandowski, the club has the last word and Silva brings so much stability in the defence of PSG. They will never let him go until his contract expires or maybe one year before. I'm sure of that

PSG centre back Thiago Silva (28) told Barcelona last summer and in January he was willing to take a 30% pay cut to join Barcelona. [md]

BREAKING: Thiago Silva admits that he'd meet Zlatan to discuss his future. He hasn't talked much with Zlatan as he's on holiday" [SkyItalia]

Does that mean he's contemplating a move to Barca (and wants to discuss what Barca is like with Zlatan)? Anyone have a link to the SkyItalia interview?

It spins it more like it's not about Barca but more about where Ibra will go next (back to Italy), but he does say "our" future.
