Let's just say this, as soon as he was subbed off, Bayern became a better team and started scoring goals. ;)

Just kidding. He was alright, he is still not clicking with most of his teammates yet.

Well forgive me for being skeptical that a Ribery header and Robben solo goal were products of Thiago going off :p

He had a good game, but it was Muller coming on that started making them more threatening.

The sub happened to coincide with the point at which Nurnberg players started to lose energy and focus, and Bayern upped the tempo, hence the flurry of chances in the end.

More crude (if you will) and direct attack via the wings works better than the midfield-clogging short passes for Bayern.

Barca 2.0 will fail them.

They were playing well down the wings with Thiago on as well. The thing Muller provided was better forward movement to create attacking chances or space, the directness came with standard late-match urgency and better finishing.

"Barca 2.0" works better to keep a fresh team with a very defensive minded approach under constant pressure throughout the opening 45-60 minutes so as to exhaust their energy and concentration, at which point the switch to more crosses in from the wings (as well as the runs of Ribery & Robben) will start to do serious damage.

Yet we couldn't do the same. All we are doing is midfield-clogging and we don't have a plan B like they do.

Sigh.

Well no, crosses are nowhere near as successful for us as they are for Bayern obviously. We do have a squad which is better suited for piling on pressure and wearing down the opposition in that lengthy opening spell though, as well as plenty of tools to get the job done as far as scoring goals against tired legs goes. If you still have the Atletico match in mind, try to remember it was only the away leg and we got a favorable result which still didn't reflect our superiority, not to mention they're a better side than Nurnberg by a good distance. Let's watch what happens tomorrow and on the return leg eh!? I have a feeling it's gonna be pretty awesome for Barca fans.

Seems apprehensive. Gave up the ball cheaply on a few occasions, made a few nice transitions in the middle of park, but overall played pretty below standard for that squad.
