Thiago Translantara

If he did know then he was in fault too. Playing Cesc - Iniesta or Cesc - Xavi after the league was won was pointless.

They do that then Thiago says he wants to leave as treated as nothing more than to make profit and folk go mad.

Think Tito was of opinion the deserving players play. If Thiago wants to leave on back of that then so be it.

Well, we can see how that worked out. Cesc ended up leaving a year later.

It is clubs responsibility to protect the investment and value of their players. Letting the clause drop was just bad management. Barça steamrolled the league that year and fitting in more playing time for Thiago would have been easy.

The club lost out on a good few million... Bad business.

I wonder had his clause not been dropped if he would have stayed?? The fuck up to let him leave for so cheap is worse for me than Neymar leaving. I was so excited to see him develop at Barca.

There is nothing about Thiago's departure that was anything less than pure idiocy by the board. Tito was hugely at fault too. They lacked any and all foresight to see that we would need Thiago down the line as our midfield was declining.

The fact that we're back at square one in terms of fortifying our midfield, 5 years after selling him and having absolutely 0 solution, should be plenty evidence of our fuckup. The board has been nothing short of atrocious, and every single Barca legend knows it clearly too, much less the fans.

How much more did Thiago need to play?

Does anyone have an accurate number?

It was a strange matter. He was supposed to feature in 60 or 70% of the games for at least 30 minutes each. He played the correct percentage but the minutes in the games were the issue. Think he needed 7 more games of 30 minutes or more on the field.

The clause itself was stupid but it only came about because Thiago’s father was already in talks with Madrid if I remember correctly.

Ok so this playing him after the league was won doesnt make sense in relation to the clause.

I thought it was 60 mins plus he needed.

Iirc he said that he would've stayed if he got approached by the club but they didn't even try to hold him and just let him go for cheap. If that is true i don't see any reason why we shouldn't take him back, it's not like we desperately wanted to keep him but he fucked us over like Ney.

But its probably the same bullshit as usual anyway so who cares

The clause he had was simply & clearly one which basically said, I'm a developing young player, I don't expect to start most games, but in the second of when most of our games is more or less ***** up, give me more than garbage 5-10 minutes which will be of no benefit to me.

But Tito or whoever his assistant was screwed us & the board should stepped in & said hey this guy is the future, xavi isn't getting any younger groom him & make him feel valuable. But that was too much to ask.

Tito spoke to him and was not willing to make any promises not based on performance.

Others also talked and asked him to stay.

Thiago was being groomed as Xavis back up and did not always play 5-10 mins, he started a lot and got decent sub minutes quite a bit.

It’s not so much about playing him more after the League was won but rather playing him more due the point gap accumulated as the season progressed. Febregas, whom in my opinion was a flop, eating into his playing time didn’t help either.

It is what it is though.
