Thiago Translantara

No player is bigger than the club so Tito was right not to play Thiago much more than he did. He was also right not to give guarantees, playing time should be earned. And in giving inferior performances to Xavi and Iniesta he was always going to be a rotation player. Even comparing to Cesc, it doesn't look conclusive since Cesc has scored crucial goals(like away to Sevilla) and provided many assists.

Thiago could have been patient, but even the next season or two he would have had a fight on his hands to become a starter. However at Bayern he's actually got a clear chance to become a starter on merit this very season, since although the Bayern midfield is collectively strong, none of the individuals(Gotze, Kroos, Mueller) are clearly superior like Iniesta is.

The fact that he gave up 4M of his own money to help ensure a smooth transfer where Barca got a reasonable fee for him also shows that he's not a traitor or some mercenary. Isco was 24M+3M and Isco was a key player in a team that nearly reached the semi finals of the Champions League. So 25M for Thiago is decent.

How does Thiago have a clear chance of becoming a starter? I have seen all sorts of formations that Bayern fans have put out, there is just not enough room to accommodate Götze, Kroos, Ribery, Robben, Schweinsteiger, Müller and Thiago. Unless Bayern plays 3-7-0.

everyone keeps forgetting the bottom line about his playing time : Pep made him a promise.surely they discussed this specifically. The irrational hate towards him is laughable. saying it will cause a problem in the dressing room in wishful thinking of those that hate him and want him to fail.

Every club when switching managers does it. Pep is the boss. He has every right to make changes. He was hired for a job- a job to be the boss and make decisions. If they wanted him to go there and do nothing then they should not have hired anyone. Most companies do the same too- if they hire a new outside manager they often bring in a few of their own peeps who know him and work well with him. Its life.

There is a new article on totalbarca about a player the new manager here wants to bring over. Someone he knows. His choice. He is the boss now. Some fans will be butt hurt if he competes with one of their favorites but its likely he will not play some of the old favorites as much as you think he should.

Bottom line: regardless of what you think the lineup already is and how he doesn't fit-- Pep is the one that already made a decision about Thiago before he came. He wants his style and him to play a role in his plan since he knows pep's ways. Nothing else matters.Yes, worst case it will affect a beloved BM player but it's not the first time and if people weren't viewing all of this from bitter eyes they would acknowledge it.

Sure this new FCB coach will try and keep things as normal as possible but no doubt he will not be like pep or tito- the players will have to respect him as boss. Sure some will hate it- just like they hated villa not being played or some with thiago --but it wont change anything-- just like the opinions of some won't change the bm line up if pep decides what he is going to do.

so saying how can he compete with such and such is not an issue- pep assured him he would play and 'be valued'.
EDIT_- Yes, I know the player in question for barca is for a position that we need someone-- so its not an exact comparison but the over all point that the new manager does make changes and doesn't just mimic the old coach is true. Otherwise he would not be respected at all.

So Thiago is going to be a starter just because Guardiola said so. He is going to be a starter at the expense of FC Germany players, and Guardiola could give a rat's ass about it. For how long though? His best bet would be rotation.

In a word YES, because Pep said so. That's his job to make decisions. He was hired because they like his ways and he isn't hired to go in and mimic someone else. At 'the expense of FC Germany players" is still undecided and it doesn't mean Pep gives a rats ass about Germany but he was hired to be concerned about BM and not the Germany National team just as Tata is hired to coach FCB and his concern is not Spanish Nt. Again, people are looking through bitter eyes and don't hold all to the same standard.

why close the thread? If people don't want to read or post they don't have to- leave it for those that do.

It is not about Germany NT. The point is, the likes of Bastian, Müller, Kroos and increasingly Götze are hugely popular. If they have to sacrifice because of guaranteeing Thiago's starter position and playing time, there will be huge uproars heard throughout Säbener straße.

Also on TB it says that Tata is bringing with him members of his support staff. Does that mean its ok if he does it and not pep? are other people at fcb going to lose a job because he brings his own staff? surely- we don't have double standards about this do we? lol. All managers do it- in football and in business.

you said FC Germany so i thought you were saying the germans that didnt play because of pep won't go to wc but regardless- I think you have to wait and see but i dont think there will be an uproar especially if they win.

again using fcb as an example- some thought villa was wasted on the bench and world class talent. The 'uproar' was comments on the net- but it didn't change what happened and I don't think it will in germany either. Fans always have opinions but their "uproars" aren't going to make the difference just as they didn't with rosell or fcb this year.

Did anyone accuse Guardiola of taking Barca personnel? I haven't seen it.

yes he was accused of that before. Maybe someone will post where but i can't recall where right now.

but look at pep the same as tata and lets see if the standards are the same-- tata will come with his own personality and way of doing things. If he didn't do anything or add or change then whats the use of hiring him in the first place if he will have no ideas or just do what pep/tito did.

Yes, we shall wait and see.

The Villa comparison is not valid though. Villa is past his prime and is going down hill no matter how any club plays him. The likes of Schweinsteiger, Kroos, Müller and Götze are in their prime. A better analogy would be us signing Gündoğan, for example and giving him a lot of playing time at the expense of the likes of Iniesta and a 2008-2012 Xavi.

Unless Thiago becomes popular and wins the fans over.
