Thibaut Courtois

Barcelona have made enquiries regarding a transfer of Atletico (on loan from Chelsea) keeper Thibaut Courtois. He's willing to join. [sport]

"Sport", the same media that said TS was "willing to join". The same that said luiz was "willing to join" ?

MD is far more credible than Sport, at present, when it comes to links

I didn't imply otherwise.

I trashed Sport because they spent their summer releasing stupid articles about TS, then Luiz.

In the end, nothing happened beside TS trashing a bit the spanish medias in a french newspaper, because the dude had enough of all the crap some of medias like Sport.es are publishing.

Those players were willing to join. But the clubs didn't want to sell. There is a difference though between a player that has 3 or 4 years on their contract and a player with only 1 or 2.

has always been too

Usually, true, but under Pep & Laporta, less so IMHO

Which brings up a question I was thinking about recently...Which reporter(s) have the best access to the current Barça, excluding MD staff?...I think it's clear, today more so than recent memory, MD is the voice of the club...even RAC1 to a degree

There was a time that it appeared, to me anyway, that Graham Hunter had a source at the club under Pep (Like Luis Martin over at El Pais) - meaning, no longer...because his info/comments since then have gone from legitimate to downright Balague BS

Anyone answering Guillem Barfbag needn't reply

Sport says Courtois has a 24 mil. buyout clause. Wouldn't think twice of signing him this summer, it that's true.

Of course it isn't. It isn't mandatory in England to put buy-out clauses in the contract and I very much doubt that Chelsea would agree to put one in the contract.

Exactly. Would be insane if we could pick up Courtois for 24M, I highly doubt it. But even for that miniscule chance of it being true, it would be so amazing to see the look on Mourinho's face if Courtois would join us

May be Courtois hasn't signed a renewal after signing his first contract with Chelsea.... Since he was a younster, the club might have thought 24M in itself was too high of a buy-out so might have figured they could as well allow it.

Hope it's true

Courtois was bought for 9M from KRC Genk and has a contract till 2016.

I don't know how much top keepers are worth, frankly. 24M or more?

Neuer was bought for 20M and that was well worth the money. Might be a bit expensive, but if you can keep a top keeper at the club for a long time it is worth every single penny. Keepers are incredibly important and very underrated.

But for now I am living under the assumption we are not getting Courtois, probably we will end up with Reina and Ter Stegen. Maybe not that bad, but absolutely not world class.

Neuer to Bayern was 22m and he was considered one of the top keepers in the world back then.
Most exensive ever is 54 million Buffon. Neuer was 2nd most expensive.
Then you have De Gea at 20 million but all the rest are 12 and less including; Handanovic,Muslera,Mignolet,Lloris etc
