Gregory van der Wiel leaving PSG on free transfer. What happened to this guy? He was highly rated during his time in Ajax, but didn't do much in PSG. I also see he's already 28, I think he was 2 or 3 years younger.

I thought he was older actually
Being good at Ajax doesn't mean that much specially in that past decade .Eredivisie has been really bad & declining
Gregory played most of the games for PSG anyway ,so while he wasn't gr8 he was at least decent .89 league games in 4 years is ok tbf

Always been very overrated. Said it at the time too when people wanted him as a replacement for Alves.

According to Bild both Mönchengladbach and Tottenham are interested in Jannik Vestergaard from Werder Bremen.
Now, I haven't really followed him or Werder much this season, but seeing how horrible their defense has been doing, I didn't think he was rated highly enough to warrant interest from clubs like that.

Perhaps Yannik, DennyCrane or anyone else following the Bundesliga, can shed some light on his performances?

I haven't seen too much from Bremen lately, the lsat time I saw Vestergaard I thought he was quite good and he has a proper reputation here n germany actually because he had a great debut season at Bremen, most newspapers nowadays don't point him out when they mention Bremens atrocious defense. However, I've taken a look into the Werder forum to see what the fans there think of him and it seems as if everyone agrees, that he is nowhere near as good as the media and people outside Bremen rate him. Looks as if he had a mediocre season. Most Bremen fans there say they'd take everything above 10m and run away with it.

Thanks man, appreciated.
It's pretty much what I suspected. The few times I've watched them this season, he's looked no worse nor better than the rest of the team.

Haven't seen all that much from him and I'm on the fence about him. He doesn't appear to me as a stabilizing force in defense, especially he seems to lack positional awareness. In other situations, he seems to switch off to early, so it's a concentration issue. On the other hand, he's Bremen's only CB who can initialize a play and imo he's a step above his teammates.

Other than that, Werder's defense is godawful anyway and has been for a long time, so it's pretty difficult to assess this really judging from conceded goals alone. Since the days of Schaaf they mostly produced ice hockey scorelines.

Thanks for the insight, buddy.
Danish media is trying to hype him up I'm a big way, mentioning that he could go on the most expensive transfer of a Danish player of all time.

I'd like to see how he'd do in a better team than Werder, though.
