I think some people here just don't understand how great Atletico played. Atletico played at a higher level in this tie than any team we've met during the CL campaign of last season. Higher than both Real and Bayern are capable of playing atm.

Real had strong opponents when they won in 2014 but this season their path to the final is ridiculous.

There are two scenarios now that are absolutely shitty and would annoy me to hell:

1. Real winning CL. That is worse than anything else.
2. Bayern winning and likely getting their 2nd Treble.

The second one is a bitter pill to swallow, but, we all know we'll never heard the end of it if Real wins the CL, Bayern winning it is easier on us :(

nah, rather real win it then bayern. team with 2 trebles is a unique achievement and should be reserved only for us.

all of this is a moot point, however, as atletico going to beat both of them :lucho:

Speaking of moot points. If Atletico goes through Barca, Bayern AND Madrid, thus winning Cl in the progress, would that make them the inevitable choice for the best team in the world?

Really? You talked about this season being a waste. We are favourites to win two titles out of three, and you're talking about a wasted season? As if Champions League alone measures a good season or a bad season. Idiotic view on football in general.

We win the domestic double and we are the undisputed best team in Spain. Sure Champions League is a special competition. But us winning the title in Spain 6 times in 8 years is a huge performance. It shows consistency above all on a long period.

Failed season? At this stage, it's still on the way of becoming a great season.

Another CL was easily at our disposal this year: I talk about wasted season because there are no great teams out there, our team on form could have really pulled it off.
I don't ask to win CL every year, I ask to do the best we can to reach our goals, and, in this moment, in Europe there is no single team which can match Barça best output.
But in the last month we went to an absolutely shit and abysmal level, throwing out of the window our chances by ourselves: with the potential of this team are you really satisfied from what the output has been? By being eliminated by Atletico, after conceding 45 minutes at home, and after having spent 3/4 of the return leg passing the ball between Stegen, Mascherano and Piqué?
Please, to play so good for the whole season and then getting destroyed when it really matters surely IS a waste.
Oh, and I don't know where this mighty "we are gonna win the double" confidence comes from: at this rate we aren't gonna win jack squat.

Atletico played as they always did in the last two seasons, still we always defeated them. It's not Atletico that played good, it was us playing absolutely shit.
I think you don't understand how abysmal we are at the moment.

Is this happening? Is this really happening? This has to be the easiest route to a CL final ever, it's disgraceful and really makes you wonder.

I believe (at least I would like to) that Atleti is good enough to stop both of these scenarios from happening.

Something has to be done about the CL draw though. Fucking Liverpool have had a harder road to the Europa semis than Real have had to the CL semis.

It's a joke.

not convinced, Bara at their best would have beaten Atletico, credit to them for capitalising on Barca's poor form

Would've been a hard tie either way, no matter what version of Barca appeared. Even near-prime 2010 Pep Barca was shut down by Inter on Camp Nou with 10 men. And Chelsea 2009, when sextuple winner Barca team had 1 shot on target vs a Chelsea that had 2 clear penalties. We have struggled in CL against high-intensity defensively great, super-physical, tough teams.

Last year Barca would've probably been favourite to win vs this Atletico, but it's still a close tie, that could have gone either way.

that would be the biggest CL achievement ever...but it's happening only in my imagination...most likely :p
