Damn I was hoping for a Villarreal vs Liverpool final.
Annoying Sevilla gets lucky again. For some reason whenever I watch a draw the outcome I want the least keeps happening.
Maybe I need to quit watching.

I think the fact that Liverpool have not won a relevant trophy in what, more than 10 years?, had an impact on their motivation.

And the fact that they played around half the matches Barça played over the past 2 seasons, had an impact too.

But hey, they're middle of the table in a league led by Leicester and Spurs! What a motivated team!

Liverpool have played 59 games this season, Barcelona have played 58. Even with if you add the longer Barca cup runs last season it's never going to be any where near twice as many games. The fixture list in England is mental.

I find it hilarious when some delusional Liverpool-supporters on different forums actually believe Villarreal's a good draw

I'm sorry to say this as we have a couple of EPL fans here who are quite realistic, however, I find almost all EPL fans delusional in a way or another regarding football... at least those that I have encountered, including some good friends of mine in real life.

The main issue is that they tend to think of EPL as the NBA of Football... which of course CLEARLY isn't... and surely has never ever been, and will never ever be, as long as Barca, RM and Bayern are in this business!

Why lucky? I don't know how you see it, but in fact there are a lot of factors that indicate Shakhtar as a tougher opponent. First, it's the traveling. Shakhtar might look easy on paper, but they have fast players that can punish any team in any given circumstance.

I find this draw the hardest one. Last time we faced Villarreal we destroyed them 4-2, so I don't know how you wanted Villarreal and Liverpool in a final, when if either of them would've faced Sevilla, it would be very logical to assume that they would be eliminated...?!

Anyway, each to their own I guess.

as an Englishman and a Liverpool fan i can say that Villarreal start as favourites and also that a lot of friends and fellow supporters regard the epl as an product which is exciting but lacks quality and top quality players. I didn't expect us to beat Dortmund but if you don't have hope then you have nothing.

Interesting. That is mental.

I'd take that draw all day long. No easy opponents at this stage and Villarreal have a good, solid team.

Glad to avoid going to Donetsk and Seville anyway.

Asenjo
Mario - Bailly - Victor Ruiz - Jaume Costa
Dos Santos - Pina - Bruno - Denis Suarez
Soldado - Bakambu

Musacchio makes the bench.

Surprised he's gone with Dos Santos over Castillejo, he's been in good form lately and adds more offensively. Jaume back at left back is a bit of a risk too, surely can't be particularly fit.

Edit: Asenjo over Areola is a bit of a risk too. I have a lot of time for Asenjo but he hasn't looked great recently.

Castillejo cant defend which is why Jds is playing. There's also Pina so Marcelino will probably park the bus
