Is he really World Clas

For the first half of the season and his final two seasons at Arsenal, you could argue that he was. But from what I've seen of him recently I would have to say NO.:shakeshead:

There is no doubt that RVP has World Class ability, however to be considered truly World Class, you have to be consistently putting in 7/10 + ratings, and regularly making match winning contributions in big games.

For any Man Utd CF that can go TEN games without scoring, has to be questioned and surely cannot be called World Class.

The ephmerality of football. The RVP wankfest has totally died down after his scoreless run. Not so long ago he was drawing comparisons to Messi and Cristiano.
As regards the post in quote, the latter paragraph seems to hold true now
Ephmerality would suggest the 'wankfest' has only been temporary, but van Persie has been playing fantastic football for 3 straight seasons now.

It's not been 3 full seasons though!

Suppose it depends on your outlook on returns, many people just look at a season end tally and use that as the proof of performances throughout a season, myself and others prefer to analyze goals and performances in depth.

10/11 - Started scoring for fun at the end of the season, first part of the season he hardly started after returning from injury. A return of 22 goals in 32 appearances was very impressive, however if you look at it in depth 15 of his 18 EPL goals were against teams in the bottom half. His cup goals were against lower based teams as well.
11/12 - Failed to score in more than half of his games for Arsenal(25 games without scoring) and went through a couple of poor patches.
12/13 - Don't think you can question he had an outstanding first half of the season, second half has been under par.

I'd argue Robin Van Persie has been 'off form' in the second half of 12/13 and had ups and downs in 11/12. Was injured in the first part of 10/11. Certainly been one of the best strikers in the world in the last couple of seasons, but consistently his performances have not been as fantastic like you suggested. Certainly not on a level of Messi/Ronaldo and even Falcao.
