Why would I want to believe so? Don't really care about Font.

I'm not even saying they didn't say what they did for contractual reasons nor do I think they didn't talk with Font.

But if you don't see ways to express support without messing with contractual reasons, I can't help you.

"I support mr. Font's bid and hope to work with him sometime in the future."

"Mr. Font's project seems the best to me and I hope he wins, but I'm devoted to my job and don't take part in the process."

Did they do such thing? No, they did not.

They're distancing themselves from the L he's about to take.

Alright, maybe you didn't read Jordi's message.
Here is the message: "I want to clarify that I am focused on my commitment to Shenzhen FC and am not involved in the electoral process for the Bar?a presidency."

This message is a script that most probably his employers gave to him and asked him to publish, for contractual reasons as he himself said.
On the contrary, the messages you presented as possible, would not have been approved by his employers.
For the simple plain reason, that they would clearly imply Jordi will be gone the moment Font wins the elections, and that's something employers don't want to see written in a statement.

As for Xavi, if you go to Font's twitter, you will see pinned at the top a short clip of Xavi speaking about Font, and explaining why he is an ideal president.
I don't know in what world this would still be there pinned if Xavi has distanced himself from Font.

PS: Neither of them needs to distance themselves from Font due to the possibility of Laporta winning. They know Laporta will come calling for them anyway, because Laporta has no plan and no project.
Which means, that a good idea for him will be to replicate Font's program and approach the same people

From what i read the voter base in such elections is some kind of electoral college/club members, mostly senile lardasses, who don't understand or care the first thing about football. Seems that presenting some kind of "project" (whatever is implied by this) would be just excercise in futiliy, because these senile casuals would still support the safe and familiar candidate like Laporte.

It's Laporta.And he's 10 times better than Font. P.S.Jordi Cruyff.That says it all.

I don't get his structure at all lmao.

So if he wins elections, he's going to keep Koeman as manager for the time being, and he's going to hire Xavi as a general manager and Jordi Cruyff as the Sporting Director? Then in the summer he will fire Koeman and give Xavi the helm and hire a new General Manager.

Oh and given the odds that Jordi Cruyff will likely fail catastrophically as a Sporting Director (like he has in pretty everything football related in the last 30 years), we'll probably be looking for a new sporting director in a year or two.

This guy would do well to continue Barto's disastrous sporting directive legacy.

Wait there. Xavi can, with no fear of making his emoloyers angry, talk about Font being ideal president, but Jordi can't make a single positive statement? Right. And Xavi can neither, as a matter of fact. He could 4 months ago (when Laporta wasn't even running), but not now.

I hope Laporta isn't clueless enough to hire a man with no serious references bar a surname.

Supposedly working 3+ years on this project and somehow Jordi Cruyff as the sporting director was the best thing they could find.

Also love how Xavi gets shoehorned in this General manager role.

What is even a General Manager? We didn't have a GM, did we? We had Oscar Grau the CEO who answered to the Bartomeu and the board.

Yeah it is just a way to fix Xavi in with elections being half way through a season.

In reality the General Manager will probably be a long distance job which he contributes to... While also being full-time coach in Qatar.

Maybe Cryuff is great in his role, but it is time to have positions by meritocracy and not because of historic ties. That's what is hindering this club, the way it inherently ties to Catalan heritage.

We need a new wave of training, scouting and nutritional thought with tech encompassed. The way the German clubs are working and the way that English in 10-15 short years has surpassed the Spanish youth coaching setups.

Funnily enough going by Font's business profile he is probably the best candidate so possibly the campaign is just to appeal to cigar smoking silent clapping socios.

I think this is part of Font issue.
He is half assing his approach trying to please everyone
He keep mentioning nostalgic names like Xavi, Crujif, Puyol. Saying we should build like Bayern with ex legends.
Then he keeps mentioning new project, 77 years working on it, making changes etc.
At the end, what does Font represent? Change? No. Nostalgia? No. Stability? No.
Trying to win it all campaigns are usually the worst. You are bound to lose some voters, pick who you are going to lose, choose how to represent yourself and go for it.

Edit: Laporta present both stability and nostalgia, Font should have took the change approach, that Laporta used in 2003. It would have fit him

PS: so far only Laporta and Font collected necessary numbers to be candidates, if only 2 of them stay, I think Font chances for upset changes significantly

People are so obsessed with the english league now,l;ol,which is on top(and that is debatable) for like 2-3 years.Until 2018,the spanish have dominated european football with a menace.I don't think anything has to be changed,it's just that football(and life for that matter) has different periods, different waves...no one can win forever. We literally haven't won the first cup or title in a decade or so last year,AND PEOPLE ALREADY THINK WE SHOULD CHANGE EVERYTHING.That says everything about this fanbase.I have a prediction that during this rebuild process more than half of the foreign fanbase will be gone.Long story short,Barca shouldn't become the new Liverpool or the new Bayern.Barca should focus to re-find it's identity that made this club special. And i think Laporta it's our best bet for that.I trust the guy.He had the guts in 2008 to trust an unknown rookie coach like Guardiola,he trusted Rjikaard before, which relegated Sparta Rotteradam the season before...that tells me this man has what it takes to bring Barca back in being the best football club in the world.

I'm talking of the English coaching overhaul rather than the Premier League itself, which in itself has grown because of the financial advantage it has over it's rivals.

English coaching? What good english managers do exist today?Indeed, the thing that do they have in spades is money. That s how they attracted great managers and great players.Nothing revolutionary here.

The youth setup. Which has been more successful recently than the Spanish teams.
