Vincent Kompany

I don't want to sound repetitive because I have always said that I find Kompany overrated (not poor, but overrated). But you are right, he often makes mistakes.
Agreed.

Don't get me wrong he's a very good defender, but I don't think he's top 3 or the best in the world that has been suggested over the last 2-3 seasons. I've debated with my brother over Kompany and he's started to noticed what I've said about his defending at times. Kompany has been very poor every season in Europe for City.

Honestly believe had he been playing in another league his hype wouldn't be the same as it is in the Premiership.

Let's be honest, he's having somewhat of a lesser season but don't forget he was injured for 3 months. Last season, he was absolutely superb.

He had a good season for sure, but he wasn't as vital as people made out. Of the seven league games he missed City lost 1, won 5 and had 2-3 clean sheets.

Nothing wrong with losing goals against Tottenham(Bale wonder strike) Stoke(Crouch goal of the season contender) QPR(lost two at home to them with Kompany) and Chelsea. City looked as assured without him last season as they did with him!

Let's also not forget his poor performances in the UCL and Europa League last season. As I said above he's a very good defender, but I do find him a bit overrated and he's still to convince in Europe.

I agree he still has to convince in Europe, although I can recall two outstanding games against Napoli last year. For our national team, he really has been superb against every team. Still think he's a class act but seems he lost a bit of agility this year.

How about this. . . Joe Hart's ball to come and claim or Kompany's own goal. . . Looking at how the ball was played in those would have been the two possible outcomes outside the goal.

3. Hoof the ball away from goal
4. Make sure the player can't reach the ball

Any attempt would have resulted in an own goal! Take a look at the angle. What where the rest doing behind him? Take a look at Zab. There are 3 of them on a straight line. . . Clint was right in front of him. Its not like Kompany is superman.

It's Kompany's fault for playing him onside in the first place, and he's the player who has the best chance of actually doing something. He's much closer to the ball than Hart and if he tried I'm pretty sure that he'd be able to get in the way of the ball, and then it all comes down to if he has the skill to kick it away from goal or not.

One cheap goal doesn't translate to getting eaten alive. . Please don't exagerate. Ronaldo only had one chance and took it.

Not just against Real Madrid but also against Dortmund and Ajax he looked awful against, maybe it is a one off season he was carrying a injury but I generally believe he would struggle against Real Madrid if he played for us, would be Pique V2

On his day, he's a as good as most top defenders. Strong in the air, good in defence and reads the game well but needs a partner as good to make a good pair.
