There's a LOT more to Henry's play than just the "scores goals from wing position" Don't know If Villa could offer all that if he was to play our LF, but I know Rooney would
Both Villa and Rooney could offer much more than Henry. Henry in his prime is a different story and although he was good last season even then I dont see him offering more than Rooney or Villa would have. His build up play is awful and his runs down the wing 80 percent of the time lead to a useless cross. He put himself into positions to score last season and thats what we need mostly from him as a winger; this season and future seasons however will be a different story.
Yeah he does have the chemistry thingy to support his move but I don't know how far he'd contribute to the defense as much as Henry did.
We need a winger; not a defender. A winger should be fighting for the ball when he loses it and coming back to the midfield to acquire the ball. That is about as much defending one should do besides regarding to free kicks or covering for a midfielder/fullback when one or two of them are attacking.
He's 28. We bought a 34 years old Zlatan for 45M so why not get Villa?
Ibra is the same age as Villa, actually younger. He just turned 28 in October.
Villa's age is the only concern, I honestly thought he recently turned 30 so to find out he was only 28 was actually refreshing. Either way; paying 45+ million for a nearing 29 year old is rough. There is no argueing that, in my opinion, Villa is the present best option for this club. In 2-3 years though that might not be true. If he were to be a CF then he could handle it with age, but as a winger age really takes a toll on performance. The only other options that would produce goals as opposed to going for a natural winger like Silva or Ribery (who would produce less goals) would be Rooney and Pato. Pato is 20 and can play any position upfront. Rooney can play anywhere up front too but as proven he does the best in a central position while drifting to the left.
