Well, it's Man City after all. An English club changing its "philosophy" while playing an English league.

Man City have been a more pass and move team with Pellegrini

Most technical EPL team even before Guardiola

Not exactly that big philosophy change

That's not what I understand as Guardiola sees the game.

Plus, he is all for "movement, movement, movement, triangles, triangles, triangles". Exactly what we lost somewhere down the road.

He is still sticking to his old square which is why he made Bayern a worse team and why City's not been lighting the EPL on fire this season. He is just as stubborn as Enrique and refuses to adapt and also he is forcing his system on players (Bayern and City) that are not capable of playing it, and neither are we now, so Guardiola is the last guy we should appoint.

For an extreme example, you can't bring in somebody like a Tony Pulis and play hoofball with our players. That's what I mean.

We have to get a manager, who would be able to do the best job with the squad we have and a few reinforcements in the summer. He doesn't have to play Tiki-Taka or anything, but he should have new ideas and his own brand of attacking football. That's it.

And you are telling me that among managers who can do that Unzue, and Valverde are the best options we can have?

No. Sarri and Sampaoli would be. But Sampaoli looks to be taking the Argentina job, unless he stays at Sevilla. And Sarri isn't linked to us at all. Valverde is a better choice than Koeman or Unzue.

Which is EXACTLY why the likes of Valverde, Unzue, Eusebio etc should not be appointed. If you appoint them it basically means you'll be continuing down the same path. No more pure Barca-DNA bullcrap.

Oscar Garcia! The Cruyff way is the only right way! Proper Positional play will always be the best system for Barca! Lucho destroyed everything what Pep created and now we look lost on the pitch! Just look how we were today against Juve = clueless and helpless..No structure, no intention,nothing..SHAME!

There are far more options better than Unzue and Valverde who BTW are as likely to have new ideas as I am to wake up in a mansion tomorrow morning

Give me some names then.

You too. Contribute something to this discussion, rather than just being a loudmouth who shoots down ideas.

Typical.

Anyways you're becoming defensive now

Let's end it here

You say there are far more options, than Unzue or Valverde. Well then, who are they?

I've already named Sarri and Sampaoli. Who else?

gasgas, you say I'm being defensive. But the reality is that I'm trying to have a discussion with you here and you're not giving me anything to work with.

After reading some pieces about Sampaoli and his behavior in his previous teams and with Sevilla now, perhaps it's the best we didn't consider him. He seem like the man who would burn all bridges, backstab and what not to reach his dream of coaching either Argentina or River Plate.

Same question I keep asking in chat. What other options are there? Wenger? All the top coaches are taken by the top clubs.

Realistically the only options are:

Ernesto Valverde - Very experienced, but there could be doubts about the direction he might take the team following on the more direct, multi-role players setup

Oscar Garcia - Inexperienced, was the Juvenil A coach that won it all and should have been appointed as the Barca B coach, but got shafted by Rosell. Was under Cruyff's tutelage, and is more about the Barcelona fundamentals of possession, movement, midfield dominance and entertainment

Juan Carlos Unzue - Following on the same path, has worked in the club in as the GK coach under Rijkaard, Pep, but I'm not sure that would help if he cannot help Lucho work our tactics and transfers better as his right hand man and assistant coach

- - - - - - - - - - - -

Then you have other La Liga coaches such as Quique Setien and Eduardo Berizzo who both have gotten their teams to play great football, especially Berizzo with the lack of funds Celta have had

Coaches like Allegri, Conte, Klopp are simply not on the market, and guys like Mancini is a joke to link this club and job with
