Hazard is 27, 28 in January. Its very, very rare for RM to buy such old players.

Well that's 3 good seasons still you'd expect minimum. And they're going to need\want someone big. Who else is realistically available? Don't see them getting Mbappe or Neymar, not this season anyway, same with Kane, Salah's just signed a new contract. Who else is there? Lewandowski but he's two years older. Dybala but he's not as good. Don't get me wrong, I agree they seem to like to buy younger when they can, but they've already signed two Brazilian youngsters and a young full back, they need something big NOW.

I looked at their transfers over the years and they bought Xabi Alonso and Kaka who were that age but that was 9 years ago. After that, they bought about 35 players and everyone they bought was 24 or younger except Modric who was the exception at 26. The market isnt great for splashing big on someone now though. Maybe Kane is someone they will do it for.

Ha, ha, I literally just thought that after I finished typing, but I couldn't be bothered to edit. Though actually, on second thoughts, or is that third, I'm not sure that they would. They both favour the left, true, but so long as Hazard stayed high and Isco floated it could work. Or else Isco could have free role but nominally starting right? Or else Isco att mid, 4231, Hazard left, Bale right, Casemiro and Modric cms with Kroos rotating. It might take some work, but there are ways, certainly, and to get Hazard and Isco on the same team would be worth the risk imo.
Fair points ..

Really don't see Kane happening this summer. But I've been wrong before, ha ha.

I'd honestly rather keep Rafinha than splash 50mil. on inconsistent 30 y.o. non-eu player who is not worthy to be Barca starter.

haven't kept up with the rumours so ....are we really going to spend 80 mil for this player ?

Nice stuff.

Other clubs add 20 mil more and they buy Ronaldo , we have to pay 80 mil for a 30yo Willian .

I love how Man City are signing Mahrez, a proven very good player and former PFA Player of the Year, that plays in the same position, is younger and won't take a Non-EU spot for potentially the same. A better goalscorer and playmaker and played in a direct, counter attacking system as well if that is what Willian is intended for.

Not saying we should sign Mahrez, but this deal just sounds so fucked up. We don't need to add another inconsistent 30 year old to our ageing core. That doesn't mean we should buy a bunch of 20 year old players either, but there got to be a balance somewhere.

Is there even a plan for what we want? For the short term and long term? Is Willian supposed to be our backup for Griezmann not being similar players at all?

He won't replace Ronaldo's goals but he's a hell of a player; if Real get him and replace Benzema with a more reliable goalscorer, big if I know, they'll probably be better off for it.

Agreed. On his day he's unplayable. Plus, he has been exceptional with Belgium this WC.

About Poacher, they already have many, Ramos, Casemiro, Varane for set pieces & Bale as the focal point.

But, I doubt they'll sign Hazard. They need to please fans as well as other members too and only a player like Neymar or Mo. Salah or Harry Kane can be a high profile replacement. Hazard may be their fourth choice imo.

Unpopular opinion: Hazard's overrated. Not that he's not good, but hype is unreal.

He's great, but he's not a pure/big volume goalscorer. More of a playmaker.

The best players are either crazy dominant in one aspect or combine both. Hazard is neither IMO.

There is something called wages, that you've completely left out of the equation.

Ronaldo is demanding around £500k per week, while willian may demand even less than half of that.

Plus, they have 4 year age gap, which is still a huge difference.

And that Willian deal is most probably BS. I don't think our board is stupid enough even if its true.
