Guess Banega failed to do so for 40 minutes of the Iceland game too. Or was that Banega not getting enough ball to his feet. Anybody but Leo's fault it seems.

Messi was leading the charge vs Iceland tho and it was moreso their intense compact defense that made it hard for him to receive balls behind the defensive line. You really can't have paid much attention if you think he was uninvolved then. He was just not sharp more than anything.

Vs. Croatia he was very bad and they simply couldn't get the ball forward.

Today he's getting more "buildup" touches because he's playing more to the right and cause Nigeria are more open. The balls in dangerous areas tho is entirely because of the difference in service he's had.

He is on it tonight and picking up better positions.

Argued for god knows how long he is better on RW.

The shape of the defense is completely different. There was no space behind the defense or in between the lines to get a ball like he did from Banega against Iceland. He was "static" in the forward zones which were clogged but as active as he possibly could be behind the bus, initiating the offense.
