Again, its not really about quality, there has always been bad teams in qualifiers, its about the sheer number of games compared to the past.

There's way more teams. Think about Yugoslavia itself. Seven teams out of that. It downgrades the quality a lot though.

Not sure if these smaller EU countries were always part of the qualifications though. Probably not.

So today we have many "watered" down countries playing in the Euro pool and the super small ones.
