Doubt very much any top coach or Ten Hag would arrive at Barca unless given complete power or as much as can be given.

There were rumours of Ten Hag stating just that and that Barca would need to get rid of Pique/Alba/Busquets etc then the rumours died.

Spain has struggled to attract a top coach in years. Too much politics and never get full control of squad.

They all want to be in EPL where get more of that that freedom, exposure and get to test themselves against the best.

Yeah, some people blame Xavi for using the veterans, but how can you do that when basically the club doesn't have any money to replace them? Every player that was signed is being used and pulled into service.

Imo, the only thing I can blame Xavi for so far is not giving Luuk de Jong more time.

We don't have the players to replace them with. Xavi knows it most likely and that's why he is trying to get the best of them.

To compete for CL you need some elite signings. So far we seem to be unable to compete for these players and the only ones we bring are low money players and/or free agents. Sorry, but that is not going to get you closer to Liverpool and City. Signing their 5th defenders and whatnot.

We have signed Torres for the price of a Kounde, Tchoumeni, and 20M more than Luiz Diaz.
He forced the club to go for players he wants, and doesn't rotate the amigos even.
So it is on Xavi just like it is on the club that he os dependent on those players.

Why is the debate suddenly about competing for CL?

No one is saying anything about that at moment it is about last few games and the current squad improvement.

Clearly Xavi cannot be expected to have a team that can currently compete for CL.

Fati comes out for a short time and immediately scores. Either the team scores, or it defends well. We will be in the top four, but when the important match comes, it will be lost. If somebody might be curious enough to close watch the way Ferran is playing will notice that this guy does NOT to dribble. He is affraid to dribble and has no qualities of a winger. He'll know why Xavi play this guy on wing. Without Dembele, Barca will suffer a lot. He is the only real winger in all Barca team.
I watched Real Madrid vs Osasuna yesterday.Real M. Wingers are with 10 classes over Torres. And when you think that Rodrigo Goes and Vinicius Jr. supposed to land to us but Real lured them from under our nose in the last moment by giving them more money. These guys are pure wingers. Quality of play hasn't been good lately, but got a big result today.
Just get top 4 and then see what can be done in the summer to improve the squad.

Pretty easy schedule remaining other than perhaps the game against Real Betis.

Today the best player was ter Stegen. He made one of the best games in a long time. Ferran will never be the best in Barca team. He has so poor footballer quality. But you have to respect everybody's opinion good or bad.

I see no freshness or innovation from Xavi. He seems to have a very similar template of play for every team. I see no tweaks or imagination from him.
Strange thing is we are only playing for top four and the team looks stale. Liverpool playing to win all four trophies with a punishing schedule and they still look much faster and fresher than us.
Forget CL, we are far from EL too. If we make cl next season we will struggle in the group stages especially if the group is tough.

We need to grand Xavi a pre-season to be fair. Players are tired and done mentally(more so than normal)
