I see no freshness or innovation from Xavi. He seems to have a very similar template of play for every team. I see no tweaks or imagination from him.
Strange thing is we are only playing for top four and the team looks stale. Liverpool playing to win all four trophies with a punishing schedule and they still look much faster and fresher than us.
Forget CL, we are far from EL too. If we make cl next season we will struggle in the group stages especially if the group is tough.

It's worrisome that he stopped experimenting after the 4-2 win against Atleti.
The system worked for a month, and the last month we are only seeing its limitations

On the contrary, the first 2 months, he was constantly experimenting with formations, tactics, roles of different players

I don't get that sentiment at all. We don't need to do things differently, but better. That's all.

Approach is the correct one and he has been quite vocal about our current struggles as well.

Approaches in last few games are not the correct ones.

Team was disjointed and had little idea how to break down Frankfurt and Cadiz while being exposed on the break while yesterday the approach was horrendous. There was no idea how to play ball through middle of park, little created and ball was being fired long to front three width of pitch apart too often.

Those last few games were as bad set ups will see at Barca and against sides that are average at best.

Keeping in mind Sociedad didn't really attack our weaknesses like Frankfurt and Cadiz, they transition very slowly and go backwards when they win the ball and build play from there. They also gave Dembele and Ferran much more space than the other two did.

And we still have not deserved to win and stolen 3 points. In the last 5 or 6 games now opponent has woeful finishing.

Xavi wants to press for 90 minutes he says then plays Busquets Pique Alba and Alves together, and wonders why the team aren't capable.

The team was a mess, but not because Xavi wanted the wingers to stay too wide. It's more of a symptom. When our build-up is shit - for a bunch of different reasons - the players usually keep position. You won't have Ferran cutting inside as much when we don't control the midfield, makes no sense when we can't get out of defence. Yesterday, and against Frankfurt as well, we couldn't string together three passes from the back.

I find it absurd to think Xavi wants a rigid system when we played fantastic, dynamic football in other games. It's a matter of form (and players).

Xavi wants to press for 90 minutes he says then plays Busquets Pique Alba and Alves together, and wonders why the team aren't capable.

Back to Valverde ball? :p

We need to learn to press again, but the fitness obviously won't just magically appear for that. He's been here a few months. It's a different topic if we can't improve next season. So far it's a job well done.

Xavi clearly told the wingers to stay wide and play the way team did.

Worse if he didnt and has that little control over the team.

Barca had huge amount of the ball in their half v Cadiz and when had it Torres was staying wide and Alba in LB/DM area. That is intruction of Xavi not some consequence of anything else.

It is the set up he was asking them to play.

Just want the season to be over TBH. If Xavi keeps with the same tactics. Then he needs different sort of players.
Yesterday both Ferran chances came when he was playing inside. In fact the goal came from when Ferran was on the right wing.
JamDav1982. I think Xavi has control over the team. But there maybe some questions from players.
Gavi was arguing with Xavi lol.

On brightside. If we win against Rayo and Beat Real betis. We are pretty much through top 4 and done for the season.

Bingo. Too bad others can't see it. Also Xavi has been strangely muted on the sidelines. Didn't even celebrate the goal.

Love what he said. He wants the team to pressure 90min. He says team needs to improve tactically, mentally and psychically.

Awesome to hear. He says we can't play the way he wants yet because players are not used to run the amount he wants.

These are our biggest weaknesses, so happy to hear Xavi saying those. I know he can fix those too.

Bizarre line.

What players is he referring to and why cant they run as much as he wants.

Some of the stuff he is coming out with other coaches get scolded for.

I like Xavi and what has done overall but some of the stuff he gets defended on is from folk desperate to see good in all he does.

Dest is back clearly behind Alves despite having a few good games a month back. He is one of those who would run more

Alves was decent but as always a huge liability defensively.

Dest will probably be sold to a mid-upper league side and either cement at that level or improve a tier or 2 and go down as another fullback we should have given more time.

He only needs more time.. heh...
Only 3376mins for Barcelona so far

Xavi can't take his nonchalant face. Dest needs to be more Alves.

I don't think the difference between these player lay primarily in their facial expression though :)
What to be said about Dembeles facial expression... Xavi loves him!
