outside of madrid (we just seem to have their number for the most part) we have lost to tier 2 and tier 3 teams in europe lol
as for those wins, winnig the supercup was nice because it was against them but i dont count it as a real competition.

That Madrid win broke records btw.

Europe does not count, most of it was when half the team was down. We wiill see next season.

Maybe you are right, but I dobut it.

Cause you are always wrong.

Alonso was fine as a stopgap for one season.

But the renewal is problematic considering he is now a CB and there are better free agent CBs than him this summer.

Its not problematic. He will just become 5th option and rot on the bench. Who cares? hes got dogshit wages

Assuming RB is signed, kounde, araujo, christensen and inigo martinez are CB options.

Then Eric and Alonso.

No, it does not. But thats just how english in general feel.

United the biggest club there, not liverpool

As far as genuine revenue is concerned, Manchester United is probably the biggest club. However, as far as contemporary success goes, Liverpool is ahead of Man U, and so is Manchester City (by a long shot).

United are far and away the biggest club in England. In terms of recent on field success they’re miles off though.

The club that sells the most shirts worldwide and has the most official members is surprisingly Bayern Munich.

I said it about Mr critical on here & it looks like I'll have to paint some broad strokes as say it about most posters here.

But if y'all applied the same ridiculous standards to your own lives that some of you guys seem to be applying to Xavi, you guys would have a lot less time to post on the Internet & shit on a man that's about to win our first league title in 4 years in his first full season at the club, especially under the circumstances he came in under.

Unless some of you guys make at minimum, 150k, got straight A's in college & is married to someone that's at least a 9/10.

STFU and be realistic.

Winning the league title in the first year of our rebuild is massive, beating our main rival 3/5 times is excellent, leading the league by 12 points with the amount of injuries we've had to important players BIG.

About a 5% chance we would have lost the way we did against Madrid if we had at least 2 of our 4 starters that were out in the squad for the Copa, Xavi's record against Madrid tells us as much.

Combination of bad luck and poor performances meant we got knock out of Europe, such is life.

You acknowledge their is need for improvement, while accepting that we have achieved a lot in the first year of a brand new cycle.

Mofos on here acting like Andrew Tate, oh no excuses, but even that guy at least tried to apply the Standards to his own life.

Freaking settings ridiculous standards without any respect for prospective is the purview of over achievers or fuckin losers and I think we all know where 100% of those who can't apply a bit of prospective here lies.

Maybe you are correct as a veteran 5th option. Would prefer to see us invest that 12m cap that's going into Eric+Alonso into a better 4th option than what we have.

Especially can considering CB3 is starting at RB.

Then there is the issue of reducing the salary cap, which could have easily been chipped at had Alonso not been renewed.

If we sign Martinez, then renewing Alonso would make no sense, especially if Alba stays which he will.

Martinez is 10x better than Alonso.

Complaint like these are fair, should have just allowed Alonso's contract to expire and find a solution for Garcia l.

But I doubt while be able to sign Martinez, we'll have to pick the players we sign very carefully next season & he'll just miss the cut due to salary cap, IMO.

Well, no offense but this post speaks for itself. Big wins are disregarded as "not real competitions", and "we just seem to have their number". Also, Inter are a tier 3 team that were one match away from winning Serie A last season and are for the 2nd time in a row in CL quarterfinals.

Inter are a legit tough team to beat when you are missing an entire back 4.

The problem is the wage limit set by La Liga imo. It's very hard to add new players. Better free agent CBs ask for more money probably. Alonso would normally be 4th option CB. It's unfortunate that he got to play so much this season, because we have no RB basically and one of the CBs (usually Kounde) needs to constantly play RB, which leaves us Alonso or Garcia anytime one of Araujo and Christensen get injured, which happens a lot.

So, if we sign a good RB, the problem of Alonso is also fixed to a good extent, allowing us to use him less in the big games, and move Kounde on his main position almost permanently.

They haven't made CL quarterfinals for 13 years. This was their first time since 2010.

Fair to say since Xavi has arrived he's had 3 big failures: 1) knocked out by Frankfurt in europa league, 2) our european competition exits this year (being generous as classing this as 1 failure) and 3) knocked out of copa del rey at home to our eternal rivals by losing 4-0.

If he wins the league that will be a big success. 3 big failures, 1 big success. Up to each person how they weigh those things up, I'd say at the moment the failures are outweighing the success.

Lol,

The biggest trophies a team can win during a season season are Champions League, Premier League, and La Liga in this order.

By your logic United hasn't had a big success in like 10 years.
