He's only played the following games since Feb 26:

Feb 26 - Real Madrid
Mar 03 - Ac Milan
Mar 26 - France
Apr 02 - PSG
Apr 10 - PSG

He basically plays one game every 10 days at the moment, let's hope his achilles problem is solved soon! It will be the first time in almost a decade Xavi won't play 50+ games in a season for us!

It's not really a bad thing. This way he is more likely to play into his late 30's for us and it also us to give playing time to Thiago and Cesc in the middle.

He has been poor in half those games though.

Unless he is injured it is a worrying sign that his legs may be starting to go.

The whole team was poor against PSG (especially in the home leg). Messi's absence really impacted the team.

Same goes for the Real Madrid game, it happened when the whole team was in absolute shit form. He was great in the Milan game and good against France as well. I'm not too worried.

He wasnt all that poor with the ball though, he looked heavy legged and unable to close PSG down which left masses of space in midfield. With the ball he was still tidy enough but defensively these past few months he has been lacking in a lot of the big games.

Tito gave him much more attack involvement than usual, To compensate for our expected attack sterility without messi, But it left us vulnerable at the back, He was good.

He has the Confed Cup and World Cup this summer and the next to play too! Xavi better retire from international football after the World Cup. At least Del Bosque shouldn't call him for meaningless around the world friendlies.

I dont agree with that, Xavi was not getting forward any more than usual.

If he was given that instruction then he didnt listen as he only played 4 passes all game foward to Cesc and Villa. The vast majority of his passes were to Alves and Busquets.

He is 33 and for the past few years only Alves has been covering as much ground as him in games. There are barely any midfielders that get to that age and still cover the whole pitch. They almost all have to adapt.
