Forget the playing time clause, Tito never made Thiago welcome or gave him assurances his time would come. He played players based on their name. Bayern had even more competition than Barca but he went there as he had a coach who believed in him and made him feel welcome. he needed a certain ammount of minutes for his clause to reach 80 M ( IIRC ) . The league was already won but Tito didn't play Thiago. If I'm not mistaken , Thiago needed 60 or 90 minutes more than he had in the end for his clause to reach 80 M.

That clause also included that Thiago would need a certain number of minutes per appearance for it to count towards the total. Thiago wouldn't have reached that even if he were played at the end of the season.

That's not coach's fault. I've read somewhere that board (Rosell) did not tell coach that Thiago must play so much for increased buyout clause. He said he never gave such contract details to coach, because that would be an interference in coach duties and he did not want to influence squad selection in such way.
