A little respect, please. This man deserves it.

Just hit me we may never see him and Iniesta playing together again.

I'm not sure if I'm happy or sad I probably saw them together for the last time in loco...

I didn't mean it that way. I have nothing but respect for Xavi. I even said a few pages back that his decline is the main reason for the decline of Spain and Barca.

It's sad to see him like this tbh. From being a key player in one of the best teams ever to playing in Qatar in just 3 years

I love him to death. He was the core reason for our successful run. Bossed the midfield like noone else. :worthy:

To be honest he could still be a very effective starter (like pirlo) if you cover him with two very physical dm's/cm's. Too bad barca will never play that way.

As a Real Madrid-man, i may not have liked him very much, mostly for his comments of the field. But i have enjoyed him alot for Spain, truly one of the best midfielders ever.

Shame another legend leaves the international stage in disappointment. I love it when players retire on top. Should of hung up Spain boots after Euro win. Still a career to be envied by any mortal.

That would've been perfect. IMO, that was the last performance he gave where you thought "Wow. That guy right there is one of the best midfielders to ever play the game."

+1

vintage xavi bossing the final, san iker flawless and with many important saves, xabi alonso with a rock solid tournament and beating france on his own. Had those three retired, what a way to be remembered. now look at them.

and i'm positive, if those pillars retire in 2012 and del bosque is forced to accelerate the transition, spain wouldn't go home after monday now.

I think puyol did it perfectly for spain. after the world cup, he played a couple of friendlies to make it to 100 caps, and that's that. didn't force himself to the euros 2012, and now when people think about puyi with spain, they think about DAT header against germany.

It is a shame if he were to leave, however it opens up space for new gifted midfielders and might just provide that fresh spark that we need (even change in playing style/system). Regardlessly, such a legend and he will be one of the best midfielders to be ever seen so far IMO.

That's what I call an end of an era. Truly depressing when you think about it, that it could be the last time they play together in a competitive match. :(
