Finally a coach that knows not to play Xavi every game, and that with enough rest he is still the boss. Hope he stays with us a few more years because his technique, movement and passing is still world class.

These are the ideal games for Xavi. Problem is if he goes in January or the summer it'd leave us really short with only Sergi Roberto and Rafinha to rotate with Iniesta and Rakitic.

Xavi will most likely not leave until summer 2016 at the earliest when his contract expire. The club can't buy any player and there are no players in la masia that can just step in and replace him. I personally would like to se him stay beyond 2016 but that will depend on several factors. I believe Xavi can be a valuable player until he is 40, it is just a question if he and the club is willing to settle on a contract extension and if Xavi is willing to take on a Ryan Giggs typ role in FC Barcelona, only playing 25-30 matches a season and many of those as a last 30 min sub to settle the team.

It's possible but xavi himself knows he must get out of the way.

He didn't play today. Maybe a sign, that he could start the clasico.

A midfield of Masche-Xavi-Iniesta would be tasty. Sorry Ivan!

Hmmm torn on that one. Xavi has shown his level is good after rest but has also been owned by Real lately due to lack of speed and defending. Raki is needed but Lucho is trying to make our lineups hard to guess and he's done well at that.

Yup had the feeling we would be seeing the 36 year old instead of the 26 year old in mid. More things change the more they stay the same.

Age has caught up with him. Anyway, where is usual complaining about grass length? "Football has lost" etc?

He quite rightly used to complain if teams played anti-footbal, or if teams deliberately had their pitch in a certain state to hinder our play (ie unsportmanlike behavior).

He didn't say those things today because neither of those things happened. Madrid played good football and Carlo outwitted Lucho; end of.

I think he was better than Iniesta and Busquets, if that accounts for something.
If he played alongside Mascherano and Rakitic we'd look better imo.

Nothing against him as a footballer, but over the years i have been quite fed up with his bitching everytime Barcelona lost a game of some importance. He is right to state his opinion of course, that doesnt make it any less annoying for me. Glad he could keep quiet for once. Of course this is a Barcelona forum, im not expecting many to share this view here with me. The truth is i dont dislike many of your players, but Xavi get on my nerves off the pitch quite often.

Xavi was good, but you just cant start him these days along Busi, cause you lose all the workrate. He needs to play with Masch to cover the hole behind him.
