It's amazing what money can do. Xavi playing in Qatar  It's sad because he's still so good.

He disappointed me with his decision to be honest. But he's done so much for the club that he has earned the right to leave or stay. Barca offered him a new 2 years contract.

Maybe if Enrique would have given him a little bit more playing time he would have accepted the offer.

I am really worried for the first upcoming half of the 2015/2016 season. Roberto and Rafinha will have a huge task to deliver. Basically Xavi saved us in a few games this season. That entrance against Celta Vigo was legendary...

Enrique will have an even greater challenge to overcome next season, if he comes close to what he's done this season, he will effectively deserve to be compared to Guardiola, no doubt about it !

It was obvious that he's leaving but he could've at least remained till winter so we figure out the replacement....

Seeing the video of the team training and all hugging Xavi ran many emotions at once, many but happiness.

It was always inevitable but why now ? He's still got some fuel... for me it seems like the only person in the world who wants Xavi to move on is him (he feels he's not giving enough and and does not want to be a burden of any sort) but the players and the fans i'm sure would want him to give it another season atleast..

Puyol took off 1 or 2 even seasons too early and now Xavi is doing the same, yes they can get injuries faster and heal slower, yes they have slowed a bit down but the quality and experience can voucher for your longer stay more than other players who lack that Footballing brilliance and should in fact leave their club or retire when they physically go down.

Not everyone can be Zanetti, or anyone for that matter.. But man do I wish that people with a big role/say in these two players decisions had done a better job convincing them to stay two or even one season longer...

And there I was, so gullible to think that the performance vs Getafe from Xavi could have changed his mind and extend his legendary career at Barca.

Games where Xavi had a huge impact entering the pitch this season :

La Liga

Villareal 0-1 Barca
Celta 0-1 Barca

CL

Barca 3-1 Psg

Copa

Villareal 1-3 Barca

He played great against Bilbao when we beat them 2-5 in their backyard, I wouldn't mind at all seeing him start against them. Luis Enrique is very pragmatic though and I believe he is everything but a football romantic. Still he's a great coach and he is indeed the team's true leader so it's up to him to see what's best for the team.

Greatest midfielder of all time. The brain behind the greatest club team in history and the greatest national team in history.

Not enough of words to praise this genius.

I should be happy because our club is in a historic position but this news makes me truly sad.

This is not a definitive goodbye though. Xavi will definitely be back in a not so distant future.

Let's win another "El Triplete" to give "El Maestro" the best goodbye possible.

Also if he is going to participate in the last 3 games of the season he will have played 900 games (!) in total for Barça and Spain. Just insane.

Now allow me to go back to mourning for a while.

It isn't just money ,players sometimes want to play more but realize there body can't handle the pressure at the top level anymore .those leagues in Gulf countries,MLS,India,Australia are a good way for them to continue playing .earning money without tearing their body

As Guardiola said it a few years ago, Xavi is the best midfielder in Barca's history and amongst the top 5 midfielders of all time , a torchbearer, a true captaind and a leader.

I wish Messi ( or maybe Iniesta...) will lead the team. Bravo could have become a great leader also in my opinion.

It is a bit surprising ,but it seems that Busquets is actually a popular leader in the team and seen as a future captain
