good, honestly didn't knew that. i was calling bullshit story these rumors on how xavi handles stuff.

pique sleeping 4-5 hours a night is not anyone's business. if the manager thinks he has a good level in training and he's being professional, then who cares if he sleeps 4 hours or 7?

? have you watched pique for the last 6 years? he has been absolute dog shit

sleep is of fundamental importance. especially for elite athletes. no wonder pique is garbage

Sleep affects one?s cognitive ability, decision making and overall well-being. Players should be sharp in training and on match days. Secondly, there is a correlation between sleep and sport related injuries.

i get what you're saying, but some people sleep more or less than others. will xavi be monitoring his sleep cycle through one of those smart watches/bands?

it's a nonsensical discussion as long as player is performing normally in training.

if xavi sees that he's tired or not performing well in training then he could ask him what's wrong or just bench him.

The question is whether he's at a good level or his personal best. I am sure he can half ass most games, because he's a phenomenal talent after all, but it's hard to imagine he wouldn't be better with more rest, less travel, fewer other commitments and so on. Because that's the consensus in sport science. Federer for example sleeps 12 hours a day.

And you can argue that it's just a job, which is fair enough, but then again I would like to think it's a bit more than that, especially for a youth product. Not to mention most other players go the distance and show a certain commitment.

Some of the stories are ridiculous like jetting off to Orlando or only getting a few hours sleep. This guy is supposed to be our senior centre back, setting an example to others. Paid millions a year to do so. Seems Pique got bored with football and wants to be involved in anything else he possibly can get his hands on.

Who knows, if he'd have really focused all these years does Rome or Liverpool happen? Finally we have a manager asking players to respect the badge.

Agreed. It is true that Pique always seems to have a tired looking face. 😅

It's the same thing every time, the new manager will crack down on the amigos and on the club culture etc, Koeman is a club legend and he was meant to do it and didn't. Even Setien was known at all his other clubs for being a very demanding coach with a super high intensity in training and it didn't get solved then either. Doubt these 'rules' are real or have an impact.

Pretty much this, it's a wait and see for me. Been reading these articles of high intensity training and all that other stuff ever since Valverde arrived and safe to say nothing has changed

i'm thinking that it's just fake good PR by the club's media mouthpieces to project this image about a new manager coming in an changing things.

we all know that most of our seniors should be phased out already, but circumstances made the managers used them again and again.

this whole bullshit about sleeping hours doesn't mean anything when pique is basically done at top level. i'm sure haaland gets trough 2-3 super models in one night and then scores a hat-trick the next day. why? because he's young and at the peak of his strengths. not saying this behavior is ok, but as long as the player performs there's no point discussing his private life if he doesn't do something illegal or against club(contract) rules.

pique could sit at home 24/7 and sleep 16 of those and he wouldn't be a better player at 34. this should be his last season here.

Yep. Most younger Barca fans have a lot of respect about the football the best current managers in the world also say they were inspired by.

The better question is why aren't the other ones. What's not to like about discipline, great and quick passing, having the ball, creating many chances, pressing the other teams and not letting them attack you? Yea, realy bad stuff .

Whenever there is something revolutionary in football, many are inspired by it and take it as precedent and guide.
That's common knowledge of the history of the sport.

Being inspired is one thing, becoming a fanatic dogmatic about it is another.
In the former case, there is no imitation but a constructive adaptation of elements
In the latter case, there is bad imitation and the inability to contextualize.

And, as I have pointed out many times, even the one who started that revolution, Pep himself, changed a lot during the last 10 years. In the last CL knockouts with City he was doing things no one could imagine from him 10 years back. That's adaptability without betraying your principles or ideas.

Dude you are tripping again.

Clubs monitoring schedule and sleep of their athletes is a thing since 20 years ago.
Have you never heard?

On the contrary, what the arch-clown Pique, and his Amigos, have established at Barca, is a violation of every sense of professionalism

If the rules are nonsense then Xavi and the club hierarchy are cowards. These are very fair rules and should be expected at a top club. The fact they're not already in place is a joke.

All the advances in sports science and nutrition and the club is only just saying they should eat something they have prepared to give them the maximum benefit of their diet.

As if this is a difficult thing anyway. You wake up a millionaire, get driven or drive whatever car you want to "work". Then when you get to "work" professional chefs have laid out breakfast options for you. Oh the horror!
