Once again... it is poor planning to have likes of Bellerin as depth at RB if not good enough.

Same with Alba and Alonso at CB.

Spend 200m and have options like that for depth is not good enough and made worse when players they did spend money on they cant even get into team.

The excuse that had to 'penny pinch' on certain areas of team doesn wash... why not spend 60m odd on better full backs rather than two wide players that dont know how to use.

They left holes in squad and suffered for it.

Xavi had a huge say on players being brought in. As much as any coach can so he gets large part of blame for that.

Other area they neglected is DM as thought Busi was good enough..again on Xavi... when he says shite like there is little alternative to Busi as Pjanic and Nico left he is talking utter nonsense and making excuses.

That's 2 years and a half :D

he has 100% the blame for CL elimination, this is the easiest shit to do when managing a squad like this.

Not being able to win a single game except against a less than pro team Pilzen something .. with a squad worth near 400 million $ ...

An out of shape Bayern & Inter one of the weakest defenses in Serie A, a team we used to trash with B squad ...

Not 100 % Xavis' fault, but he should take considerable blame for the CL exit.

I just don't think it was a bad enough performance that it warrants an immediate dismissal as manager.

The Bayern games were both expected Ls- though the performance in the 2nd game was less than stellar.
Xavi also deserves blame for the Inter games, but the 2nd one Barca could've pulled off with a healthy defence.

I think Xavi deserves the rest of the season. Seems like there are a few users who want Xavi out already just because of a grudge against other posters.

Not many are saying 'immediate dismisall' but he needs to do a lot better.

A lot of the mistakes he has made were predicted and being talked about long ago.

Bayern shouldnt be 'expected Ls' they were out of form around that first game with many German teams taking points off them and not playing well... and they didnt play well v Barca either.

Its poor planning, but that poor planning isn't all Xavi's fault. The previous board mostly and the current board are responsible for squad planning. All holes cannot be covered this quickly.

And wide players were needed at Barca and the money thrown at Raphinha was market value. Barca needed talent on the front line and that costs money in the transfer market.
Ferran (who you supported quite a bit last season) is a bit of a dud, but the sporting department also shares blame in that- not only Xavi.

Xavi takes a huge part of the poor planning as he was a major driving force behind who club signed in summer and had a huge say in it.

No it is not 'market value' to have two wide players have payed 120m for when result is have to penny pinch on defenders like Bellerin and Alonso and have Alba and Roberto as other options there.

The talent Barca had in front line was far far ahead of what they had at full back before any player was signed.

Poor from Xavi to leave depth so poor.

If Xavi wanted 60m spent on full backs rather than another wide player they dont know how to use he would have got it. The sporting dept were acting on his advice.

Ferran Torres isn't worth the money. He sucks and even if he was a Xavi picked player, the board deserves criticism for greenlighting that deal and not having their own scouting vet the player.

A quality wide player at Barca was needed. Fati, Depay, and Torres aren't that guy. Dembele- injury history, up and down performances. The frontline needed what Raphinha was theoretically supposed to bring to Barca.
And the going rate for that was the 60 mil Barca paid for Raphinha. Chelsea were in for that. Arsenal and Man Utd sniffed around.

Fullbacks were also needed but just no money left for them.

There is no 'Ifs' about it.. Xavi chose Ferran.

Xavi deserves the flack for having such an influence in spending 120m on attacking players he doesnt know how to play while leaving other areas of team so exposed.

'quality wide player was needed'.. yet that player is not performing as doesnt suit how Xavi plays while full backs were needed even more. That player suits the RW... as does Dembele so no he wasnt needed as much as full backs were.

Again.. there is no excuse about 'lack of money' for FBs... Xavi wanted money spend elswhere and as said if he wanted 60m spent on full backs ahead of wide players then het gets it and as squad as shown that is where the bigger weakness has been and team have suffered.

60m being going rate for Raphinha is completely irrelevant to any point made so can stop repeating that one as no one claiming really that Barca over payed.

We differ on how much blame Xavi deserves for the 2 "failed" forward signings. A considerable degree of culpability has to be on the board and sporting department because its their job to find the right players that fit the team.

If Xavi is misusing those players, then he would've gotten the sack already for wasting transfer funds. But I don't think that the case.

You're too content at assigning the blame to just 1 person.

I didn't even notice till today our players besides relying on side and back passing with only passing up touchline, our players don't even attempt to look for passing lanes or open spaces through the middle. It's like the middle of the pitch doesn't even exist for us anymore. I still can't believe this is real.

I really can't take much more of this, borderline torture in its totality.

Xavi : 'The goal is to win the Europa League, but it will be difficult as there are good teams in it'.

Expectation management even spreads to the Europa League now, as Xavi is not even sure we can win that apparently.

Xavi probably didn't know if Frankfurt had qualified for the CL or EL at that point in time.

If you ask him now he will say we're favourites for the Europa League!

Messi’s performance against Shakhtar Donetsk saw him become the first player in Europe’s top five leagues to register over ten goals and ten assists in all competitions. This is the guy Laporta and Xavi replaced with Depay Raphina Dembele Bellerin Alonso and Ferran (yeah he can score 3 feet in front of goal nowhere else though) Messi is KILLING it but they wanted to waste money on trash like Kessie instead of a diamond like Messi.

So I ask you, who was supposed to play alongside him in this case, if we get rid of half of the entire squad as you suggest? Jutgla and Ilias Akhomach?

Those numbers you are quoting is with him playing alongside Mbappe and Neymar in PSG, two of the best forwards in the world. Don't forget that. If we kept him he would have been playing with Barca B kids here.
