Massive success at club level for Flick is based on a paper-thin margin.

Nagelsmann didn't manage a big club either prior to Bayern. A risky signing also. Managing Leipzig vs managing Barca is worlds apart in terms of pressure.

Xavi can handle the squad. He has issues coping with the huge expectations of managing Barcelona in terms of titles and performances. But that is understandable.

The pressure and the exigence of winning titles while having low money to spend compared to the opposition is gonna put insane pressure on the Barca manager to deliver instantly. It doesn't matter if it's Xavi, or Flick, or anyone else.

It is possible for Flick and Nagelsmann to be awesome managers? Of course. If they aren't great, not just good, they'll be gone in under 2 seasons. At Barcelona you need titles right away. Xavi won them in his first full season at the club.

Barcelona is a short term job anyway. If you do great, you last 3 seasons and after that mental burnout appears. If you do badly, you are gone after one or two at a maximum.

2 seasons is about right for Barca manager if you aren't a CL winner like Pep, Crujif, Rijkaard, Lucho. Would argue that Lucho would have been better served if he left after 2nd year, and even Pep regretted staying for 4th year.
There will be no Klopp or Simeone here. So "after 2 years" sound about right and normal.

It's just not right to me. You need to adjust expectations to the possibilities of the club. I don't need to list you the legendary players those CL-winning managers had at the club. It's a collection of incredible superstars.

Xavi could very well have matched Lucho's results if he had MSN in attack. It's quite likely in my opinion. Most of the matches under Lucho were decided by MSN being unplayable. It was an attack that operated at a much higher individual level than the other teams. It's much easier to get big titles when you have such powerful weapons in your team.

You cannot expect a manger to deliver titles and awesome football if the club is not doing its part on the market. Institutionally, Barcelona is not doing its part at the moment compared to the opposition we are facing, either domestically or in Europe. It is a fact.

You really think Xavi preferred someone like Romeu to replace Busi, instead of a more highly rated DM? Absolutely not. He got Romeu because that is all that the club could afford last summer.

You overestimate the impact of a manager vs other aspects of a club. The club needs to do its part. It's not the fault of the manager that the club elected an idiot like Bartomeu that brought the club to its knees financially. It is a club issue, not a manager issue.

It's just not right to me.

But it is the reality.
You keep mentioning all the problems of the club as the "reality" and how folks are deluded, you can't then cherry pick and deny the fact that a handful of managers survived more than 2.5 years, and the list of coaches who succeeded in their 3rd season in past 30 years within this club, is just 2.
This is the "reality" of the situation, and Xavi is already showing signs that he is no exception. Media and fans are already turning against him.

Regardless of the squad, Xavi will need to turn things around to survive past this season. This is how this club has always operated even in worse times than current ones.

But there's a problem with that.

What we are seeing today is something new. The club was never in this position in many many many years. So you can't really apply what happened in the past. When were Barca less powerful on the market than some 14th placed team in England? Don't remember such a case. Ever. I was used to a Barcelona that always had access and could sign the best players.

There's no precedent. So, the club should adjust to the new reality and build from that. There is no manager in the world that is gonna guarantee titles on low spending. Most will not even dare to attempt it because they will have better jobs to choose from.

This is a bit disengenous

We signed players like Christensen on a free and loaned Felix and cancelo

Our wages paid will be way higher then a club like Forest even if transfer spend at a superficial glance is on the low side.

Simply put a club like forest kr even a top 4 club would not attract players like Lewandowski to come to Barca

Barca isnt less powerful. They have less money.
But Liverpool also has less money than Al-Nassr. That doesn't mean they are "less powerful" in the market.

More factors than that come into it and Barca is always going to be able to sign better players than 14th place in Premier no matter how little money we have.

Power on the market is mainly dictated by money.

Nah it isnt really. Its dictated by pull (which includes money in wages terms but not the major factor).

It doesn't matter how much money you have, top players will never sign for you if you aren't a club competing at the top level or don't have top level history. But you can still sign top players with little money as a top club.

But the clubs having big money in Europe also compete at the top, and most of them also have prestige. They go hand in hand.

We pretty much got all the "good" bargains.

He's losing control and losing control fast. Needs to get it together or we're facing a top 4 fight, forget title challenge

Horatio

You're welcome
Let down by players today. But what’s this with sergandez(serghie) mention xG and losing due to wasted chances all of a sudden? Any other coach and would only have eyes for scoreline.

But agree. We played decent and tons of chances wasted. Valencia with howler.
