Xherdan Shaqiri

Technically he's fantastic, but from what admittedly little I've seen, I'm not sure he has a football brain to match.

I respectfuly disagree Jenks. Admittedly I have only been really following him this last season though. But from what I have seen this kid will be a hit at Bayern and only go further from there. His run with Basel in the CL was noteworthy and without him they wouldnt have gotten nearly as far. He was the architect of Man u's demise :D. Everytime I see him throw on a jersey for Switzerland he impresses me. Now that he is surrounded by players of a higher calibur he will grow. He has the potential to win it all with the right team. He has had an awesome pre season with Bayern and will fight for a starting spot. Came on for ribery in a german cup game today and got 2 assist and a goal from a freekick.
Cant wait to see what he does next.

I think it is the other way around. He lacks a bit of technical skill and compensates for it with running like a bull. Though all around he is a very good player could head into WC status if trained properly. He is a bit of a hot head though.

I've seen almost every game of him for the last 3 years. He has developed a lot and still has to develop a lot, thats for sure. But considering he's ~21, thats pretty normal. I've read somehwere in here that he's 'too one-dimensional'. I agree on that, but only when it comes to cutting into the box. he does the same trick all the time, over and over again. also he's pretty good at getting free kicks. we (me and my friends when watching him live) didnt care about when he dived, it was so fun to watch how he did it. But in Switzerland he had a star status, so he got almost every freekick he wanted...in germany it will be very different.

no I wouldnt say that. His technical skills are impressive for a ~21 year old. He also has a good vision. Unfortunately in Basel he wasnt surrounded with the most gifted players. Thats why you've very rarely seen any "one-two's", through balls, or things like that.

He has a long long way to go, but I'm sure he has the potential to become a very popular player. He's also very funny and down to earth as a person. Unfortunately you can't understand what he's saying in interviews. Me and my friends are always having a good time when he's giving an interview :D

Honestly I think the Suisse league made him a bit lazy so the Bayern move is a good move for his career - it annoyed me how he seemed to just play for the freekick...He will have to raise his game and complete moves rather than hoping for a fk...Helluva left leg

spot on. it was the right time to make a move. Altough I miss him in basel it would have been a waste of talent to keep him here. Plus we already have him replaced here ;)

Yeah, lots of Suisse hopes riding on Shaqiri with Bayern - I hope he seizes the opportunity and makes the most of it

Who's the replacement?

Yeah he is, sometimes in situations he lacks the correct decisioning but i think he''ll improve it. Generally he has all the aspects of replacing Ribery although its not easy get such a high status like him so soon, but he is definitely a player for the future.

Thought he played well in the friendly although I still believe he's far from reaching his potential
