Barcelona, a Cidade Condal
Valdes
Alves/Rafinha Piqué/Chimi Puyol/Milito Abidal/Maxwell
Xavi/Cesc Busquets(defensive)
Iniesta/Cesc/Keita
Messi/Pedro Villa/Bojan Pedro/Iniesta

That's about it for me. Starters in bold.

I think you mean Pedro in bold, no? Ineiesta is already in bold in the middle...

Oops, yeah exactly:D
or a 4-2-3-1 with both Cesc and Inie.
actually i edtied it again, there is no first formation for me imo if you wanna play counters then Cesc + Pedro. If you want tiqi taca then cesc + iniesta. leaves us with 11231 options.
we should try 4-2-2-2 with xavi-busi iniesta-cesc messi-villa aswell

Cesc will operate as a DM who would also move forward in attacking moves and drop back again. I think we would see him in this role in most of the games.

Considering we also get Fabregas, i think it wud be shame for Barca to keep him on the bench, specially in crucial matches. And so would be benching Xavi or Iniesta.

Now the problem is that none of them is a specialised defensive midfielder. So, playing all of them will probably leave the defence a bit open on the counter attack.

So, a defensive midfielder is essential if all three of them are to play. Consider the following line up.

---------------------------------------------Valdes-------------------------------------------------
-------Dani----------------------------------Puyol-------------------------------Abidal-----------
----------------------------------------------Pique-------------------------------------------------
----------------Xavi------------------------Fabregas--------------------Iniesta------------------
---Messi--------------------------------------Ibra--------------------------------Villa------------

Now the above lineup is just for very crucial matches (like to break down buses). Ofocurse we can rotate our players. But benching either Iniesta or Xavi or Fabregas apart from the reason of giving them rest is ridiculous i think.

Lets see the pros and cons of this formation :

Pros
- Best midfield and attacking line up in the world atm.
- behind Ibra everybdy is a creative player, lot more chances.
- Xavi/Messi/Iniesta/Fabregas/Villa can interchange position at will.
- A lot more goal scorers.
- Both wings are a handful.
- all of them capable of making a run into the box, to catch that last pass.
- Defensively strong as well.
- Pique's ball distributing is very gud.

Cons
- Dani and Abi need to sit back and concentrate on their defensive duties.
- No wing play (unless messi and Villa decide to turn into wingers, highly unlikely)
- Pique as a DM provides a strong hold before the defense.

So, what u think of this guys??? Is this feasible???

That looks very weak defensively, added to the fact that no wing play? High unlikely in my opinion, I think Pep will stick with Pique in the defense and Busquets as a DM.

Good old 4-3-3-

Villa-------------Ibra---------------Messi
Busquets------Iniesta-------------Xavi
Abidal----Puyol----Pique----------Alves
---------------Valdes---------------------

And Fabregas will be used for rotation, IF we get him

Mate... you still put Iniesta in bold in two positins at the same time...

I do feel that Pep would play Cesc, Xavi, Iniesta, Villa, Ibra and Messi at the same time. This should be kept in mind that Cesc did start his career as a DM and I read on wikipedia that he idolizes Patrick Viera as a player. Moreover, he said in an interview that he wants to stylize his game as Pep Guardiola used to play on the pitch. I have seen that he can pressure the opponent and can win the ball back. The only problem is that he has become awesomely good at moving forward and get involved in the attacking gameplay. Though I do feel that Cesc can become a box to box player who can attack as well as function as a DM. In fact, in a team like Barca, where Pique is often found in the opposition's penalty box; it can be quite believable and feasible that we have Cesc as a DM. Though here, I would have to agree with "ace_leo" that there could be possibilities of Pique becoming a center back cum DM. In most of the games, or in any given game we often get to see that Valdes is almost the only player on Barca's half of the pitch and our central defenders are patroling the half line. I guess, Barca would play even more total football from next season. Cesc would start as a DM, and when he moves forward Pique would move forward and become a DM, and then as Cesc drops back again - Pique would go back to central defense. And I have to admit that Pique has shown great mobility on the pitch. Even though he moves forward, he still gets back in time. I would rather say that these days Pique reminds me a lot of Franco Baresi. His distribution is very commendable. Whatever it is, we would definitely get to see Xavi, Cesc and Iniesta in the middle and Villa and Ibra along side Messi upfront at the same time.

The attackers could also be positioned like this:
------------------------Pedro---------------------Messi--------------------------Villa-----------------------------------

Like we played the latest matches.

Bench: Pinto, Milito, Maxwell, Touré/Busquets (or a new defensive midfielder, should Yaya leave), Cesc, Bojan, Ibrahimovic/ Jeffren (in case Ibra leaves).

If Ibra stays I would love to see somethiing like this in action:

-------------Villa---------------------
----------------Zlatan-------Messi---
-----Iniesta--------------------------
----------------------Xavi------------
-------------Busquets----------------
-Abidal-------------------------Alves-
----------Puyol------Pique------------
-----------------VV-------------------

I believe Zlatan would be much more helpful to us if he played behind another strinker because he could use better his abilities of target playing, good passing and shots from distance. On the other hand this would take off some space of Messi's free role.

And we would have a lot of quality on the bench: Pinto, Milito, Dima, (Botia), Maxwell, (new RB), (new DM), Keita, Thiago, JDS, Pedro, Bojan, Jeffren etc.

And of course it's possible that Cesc is coming home.

I assumed that Henry, Toure and Marquez are leaving.
