Zlatan Ibrahimovic

You must be joking, would you seriously pick a 33 year old who is on his way down, or a 26 year old striker who will do the job for many years(most likely).

You weren't referring to the future, you were referring to the season that just ended, and in that respect Ibra was better than Costa by a considerable margin. Perhaps the latter will be better in the future? I don't know, but he isn't today.

I was referring both to the present and the future. Sure, Zlatan can do a few things Costa wont ever do, but this season Zlatan has been going a bit downhill and he is only getting older. No one can predict the future, but i would pick the 26 year striker who likely has many years left in him at a high level over the 33 year old, regardless if he is inherently more talented.

You're the one that said "as of now", and as of now Zlatan is a better striker and player than Costa. I don't know of any hypothetical or fantastical decline on the part of the Swede as he's still picking up a goal a game + assist while grading out as the best player of Ligue 1.

I also said "Zlatan isnt quite the same anymore, and he is old", you didnt read properly, did you? How does my first post only refers to the present, and not the future? "As it stands now" doesnt simply mean who is best at this very moment, as it stands now, Costa is a young and good striker, as it stands now, Zlatan is a great but fading striker.

You shouldn't question people's reading when you yourself ignored the entire part of my post that explains why claiming Zlatan has "declined" is silly and false.

Zlatan has declined a bit, i dont see how that can be denied. All i ment is that who would pick a 33 year old striker, who is arguably better but declining, over a 26 year old striker who is one of the best?
All im meaning to say, you wouldnt really pick Zlatan over Costa, would you, all things considered?

Yes, I would, because he's better player plain and simple. You keep mentioning a hypothetical decline but his level of play suggest otherwise. 29 goals and 6 assist through 30 competitions versus 21 goals and 4 assist through 35? One of these stat lines is better than the other and it isn't the 26 year old with the advantage.

One's old, the other's made of glass. No right choice really. Ibra hasn't been great this year btw, numbers don't tell much when you shoot penalties (8 in ligue 1 iirc).
