Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Bazinga!
A typical second half of the season performance from Barca (Ibra and Messi too) in 2009/10:

Not entirely true, that was probably his worst game in Barca. But yeah, he wasn't much better the rest of the 2nd half of the season. His first game against Zaragoza was one of his best though:

I've read Ibra's autobiography. He says he thought Messi was a cool guy. If there really was an ultimatum, Ibra would probably have come to know about it eventually in which case he would probably write something negative about Messi. I think he just had a beef with Pep and that's it. He didn't like the "schoolboy" way of things at Barca, atleast according to the book.

The schoolboy way of things would get irritating to be honest. I probably wouldn't last very long at the club.

I'm not sure where you guys went to school, but in my experience Zlatan would be more like the typical school boy than Messi or even Xavi...

Have a sneaky suspicion you may know that this expression may not be meant to reflect how the average schoolboy of today behaves..

"Schoolboy way" - Those words were used by Ibra himself, not me. And Ibra went to school in Sweden, so.......

sure but Its an expression and its what the expression means that is interesting in the context of how ibra percieved the players, not wether or not the expression holds true in todays schools.

:lol::thumbsup2:

1) Messi false 9 = end of Ibra.
Without many words, compare the 2 videos vs Zaragoza and you can easly understand why Ibra had to leave. If this is the best performance of Ibra, how can you describe the performance of Messi? there are no adjectives.
2) Ibra never understood our game, too complicated for him. With him in team, we were not a team of 11 players, but a team of 10 players + 1. We always played better with Bojan than with Ibra.

Isn't the expression "choir boy"?

Yeah i guess it is in english but ibra has a habit of translating expression word for word. But yeah thats the essence of it i guess.

Choir boy - Morally upright boys.
Schoolboy - Still needing guidance. Obedient to higher ups. Not independent and free to do whatever he/she wants. Or in Ibra speak - "Not having balls". In general, school boy can be used for a few other things as well. For example, schoolboy humour is rude, childish but not actually hurtful.

Of course, that's just how it is used here. How people interpret idioms varies from place to place.

So am I, and I'd mostly use it to mean "immature", "childish" or "mischievous"

yeah i know you are as am i which is why i found it strange if you really dident understand what he meant. I dont recall the phrasing now but perhaps it was the explanation that came with the expression that painted the picture for me, or atleast more so than just the expression by itself.

i still believe that had Pep been more wiser and kept Samu or at least splash that very money to bring villa one year earlier, Barca would have 3 CLs in a row..
