Ter Stegen will cut his holidays short. Had permission to rest until 30 July, but will travel with team to United States on Sunday. [sport]

The competition for the gk spot really is hot between him and Bravo, huh? I remember Bravo cutting his Christmas break short in much the same way.

Not sure about that ,even when he was in Bundesliga he was mistake prone .and didn't produce stellar performance in the Euro U_21 either .
Switching roles can serve our long term interest in developing him ,but I am more worried about Bravo consistency

Yes, but Bravo was error prone in La Real too so it's nothing one keeper had and the other not.

They both had good seasons, both had blunders and both had some amazing saves, I like Ter Stegen more because of his ball playing ability, but Bravo has given Lucho no reason to drop him.

Claudio Bravo is Ballon d'Or worthy in my opinion. He had a spectacular season with La Liga, and the Copa America. So MAtS has tough competition ahead of him, and seeing how MAtS is the future, Bravo should play the first half of the season, then switch to MAtS. Actually, a switch would be pretty sick, because Claudio is a reliable and experienced goal keeper, hasn't played in the CL, and Mat needs to play in the league to develop consistency.

Whoa there, let's not get too excited here. Even if you only look at goalkeepers over the course of last season, David de Gea was the best keeper in Europe by some distance. If any goalkeeper were to deserve a spot up there with Messi and Ronaldo, it'd be him.

LE should reverse their roles. I think Bravo would like to play the CL, and MAtS the league.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. Hope Lucho goes status quo on the situation.

It's not broke, but it's not perfect, either. The system has to change at some point due simply to the age difference. Might as well let them switch competitions. Bravo will finally have some real big game competition and Mats will finally get some decent game time.

Bravo is 32 which is prime age for a keeper. No need to change it for at least 2 years. Mats is still young enough where he gets the prestige of Champions but Bravo knows la liga strikers inside out so he should be our Liga goalie without question.

He won't stay here for two years in that situation so you might as well just say sell him and be done with it.

And Peter Cech is 33 but that didn't stop Chelsea from making the smart decision and sticking with their younger keeper who was capable of holding the #1 spot.

From a sporting perspective letting Mats get consistent playing time is in our best interest. He can be our keeper for the next decade if he stays, and he isn't going to stay if he sits on the bench for another two years.

We dont know how long he'll last. Keepers age differently. Casillas was already in steep decline at 32.

Ter Stegen, who was only expected back from holidays after pre-season tour in United States, has decided to travel with the team. [md]

MD reporting the same as what sport said.
