Of course it was risky but it was still more than awesome by MAtS. Loved that shit.

Sometimes it is also risky for guys like Messi or Neymar to try dribble runs against several people, difficult shots etc. but that is what sports is about. I know that this could have ended up in a goal and a run of Messi is far away from that but players who do such things should be encouraged.
We love Barca's game because the degree of difficulty is ridiculous sometimes but the team still pulls it off. One touch passing, ridiculous turns by Busi oder Iniesta in our own half, crazy finishes from Messi etc.
Keep going MAtS. He made the decision, had control of the situation the whole time and pulled it off, perfect for me.

Clean sheet, nice save and some hilarious dribbling by the corner flag. That sort of move paid off and you can tell he has his confidence back.

according to a rumour liverpool manager Klopp is interested in Mats. Maybe the manager needs some german players in squad.

First of all he shouldn't have come to the ball, Masch had it covered. Secondly if you come out just kick it away. It was a great play but totally unnecessary.

and 3rd, his final pass was somewhat soft.
Imagine if that Bate's player intercepted it (he wasn't THAT much far away from it in the end) and tried a shot towards the empty net from the edge of the box.

No, that is an awful comparsion. Losing the ball in the final third is not the same as losing the ball as a goalkeeper near the corner flag. Football is all about winning, and in the scenario he is better off playing it safe.

Just read the sentence after the one you highlighted.

Can we play him instead of Dani? I'd expect at least an assist, though i'd also expect giving away a penalty due to handball

Seeing him do that move, my hart was skipping a beat, not because of a potential Bate goal, but rather for him not to get punished for it, as it would have caused another streak of criticism, pressure and so on.

Once over with, can't stop watching it, what a pass from the corner there, that pass was clinical, any interception would have been fatal

It looked like he was attempting to block the attacker so that the ball can cross the goalline. Unfortunately the ball was a little to slow, he did the best out the situation then. He got pops from the crowd for it. Anything that helps his confidence after being shittalked for weeks already, is just helpful at this point.

Running towards the ball was the original sin here.
Mats handled it very well from there on considering it looked like the ball was going out

I don't think this is something he'll make a habit of doing, it felt more like a one-time statement to show everyone that he still has confidence in himself after letting in some goals that lead to him receiving some heat earlier in the season. Considering that background it takes quite some balls to do what he did, and luckily he succeeded. It made for a fantastic crowd pleasing moment there and then. :)

His interception in the 1v1 situation was a much better example of the kind of style he's trying to perfect, and the kind of play we'll se more of in the future. It was a great moment that completely disarmed a very dangerous situation, he timed it perfectly.
