People making a fuss over Mats being Mats even if he didn't actually make any mistakes. Fairly typical.

This is the kind of play you can expect from him. I know he's committing the cardinal sin of not being a less experienced Claudio Bravo but his sweeper keeping has bailed us out many times, and if he wants to play around in the dying moments of an already won game to boost his confidence a little I see no problem with that.

I wouldn't have considered the game just won already. If Bato scored in the situation they would have equalized.

Is he seriously getting criticism for being an absolute boss?

Ofcourse. The people that critized him before when Mats action turned sour should be consistent and critize him now as well.
If they hadn't people would call them out on being opportunist saying stuff like 'Hey, weren't you the one to critize him the last time he conceded a goal because he tried to pull something off?"

It's a loss-loss situation.

He's getting shit for something that didn't happen, that's so new to me. Next game I'm gonna criticize Neymar when he scores a goal, pointing out that it would've been so bad if he missed that chance.

It was a great move, unnecessary but great nevertheless.

And he was smart about it, I didn't see any particular showboating attitude towards it. He thought the attacker could get the ball and he went it to protect it until it goes off. Ball trolled the fuck out of everyone & stayed in-pitch, so he placed his body to protect it like a defender would do. He had the physical edge over the attacker so he held, then raised his head & passed it to the closest defender.

Showboating would have been trying to dribble the attacker or making a back heel pass outside the box, this was just a good defensive play.

Mascherano had it covered quite easily, it was a completely no pressure situation. There was zero need for Mats to do that. It was a nice piece of skill to watch, but it was also a risk he clearly didn't have to take. If it led to a goal people would be wondering wtf he was doing.

I want to see him be a boss when it matters. Not down in the corner for absolutely no reason.

I hope he keeps on improving, but I could go without unecessary risk taking from our goalie.

Reminds me of the time someone criticized Ney for taking a touch to fool the defender before scoring in the 6-0 trashing of Getafe.

Why do you lot act like he's above criticism, though? Keeper's coming out isn't a black/white situation, there's a time and place for everything.

Omitted from the national team squad, even though there are 4 goalkeepers selected this time (Neuer, Leno, Zieler, Trapp).
Have to say that's justified, gk spot in germany is way to competetive to not play great for a couple of months.

Leno has conceded so many goals this season, not sure why he is ahead of Ter Stegen.

But good, less chances of sustaining injuries while playing for the NT.
