Welcome to the forum. ... I want to clarify a couple of things. Firstly, is it really true that MAtS was told he was signing up for the 1st goalie spot? From what I recall, there was always talk of buying an experienced goalie as well and to see who competes best. Secondly, the split in appearances is not 3/1, not even close. MAtS has 32 appearances for Barca, while Bravo has 52. So it's more like 1.5/1.

Hello and thank you. You're right, I should have said 3/2. There was definitely talk about getting a more experienced goalie on board pre-ter Stegen signing, only right because he was Zubi's big gamble both age and playing style-wise but he was introduced as 1-st choice at the time, honestly iirc not even the most optimistic cules believed the second goalie replacement in that transfer window could be someone at Claudio's level. So even if ter Stegen knew at the time he and an XY experienced goalkeeper will have to challenge each other for the first spot, I doubt he predicted someone at the height of their career. Bravo deserves all the praise he gets and is an exceptional example of a goalie having the golden age moment at 32, the last year or so he's been living a dream with us and Chile.

Remember when we had pinto when valdes was injured? Those were the days to cry about, not these. We have 2 absolute world class keepers, one experienced and the other young.Imo as a pair we have the best pair in all of europe. Both have their ample minutes.Slowly when bravo starts declining we will have another keeper who would have played and won a lot of trophies with us ready to take his position without any problem. There couldn't be a better situation of our goalkeeping spot atm. Some people just can never be happy

I don't think it's about fans not being happy, we hit a jackpot and we know it. It's the worry that the younger goalie might decide to go on a successful loan (or worse but lmao even I'm not dramatic enough to believe FCB would agree to sell him anytime soon) and complicate things for the future. At this point that possibility could be 100% hyped media bullshit and us over-analyzing (with CWC celebrations and MAtS' attitude fresh on our minds) or not. Things happen fast in football, though these rumors are nothing new and nothing came out of it so far.

You're welcome
Secondly, the split in appearances is not 3/1, not even close. MAtS has 32 appearances for Barca, while Bravo has 52. So it's more like 1.5/1. This season (incl. the recent CWC matches), Bravo has 15 while MAtS has 11. The split would have been 50/50 had Lucho started MAtS in Japan. "An ugly gesture" is really stretching it.

We have to be aware that Mats number of appearances is heavily dependant on the success of the team within the tournaments. Bravo already has the security that he will play 38 games(granted he doesn't get injured or isn't in piss poor form)

But generally I agree with you and I think I have posted it before months ago. The ratio between Mats and Bravo is not as unfair as some people make it out to be.
That is why I don't believe the rumours. He gets to play enough important games, seems to enjoy his time there, is training with the best(which is good for development as well) and has a bright future if he stays.

At least bravo can say he has now been involved with winning a cup trophy with barca. Mats already has copa and cl to his name and will have plenty of time over the next decade or so to win the rest of the trophys

Bravo is world class, and in his prime. Why waste it? What you're saying makes no sense unless you're ter Stegen's agent.

what are you talking ? mats clearly was bought to be 1st keeper. but then bravo happend. bravo is doing a greta job but it doesnt change the fact that it was mats who should have been the 1st goalkeeper, but lucho has different opinion.

So did Alex Song.

I'm afraid, that even if TS doesn't push for transfer too much, the board might decide to sell him if they get good offer. Remember, we have financial problems now and we don't have good field players to sell (Adriano&Douglas won't net us much). So if let's say Liverpool offers 25 mil., we might sell him to simply make money for backup forward or other players we need.

There are no financial problems. Not one warranting selling players. And no club will offer 25m for him. Gk's aren't that expensive, with a few exceptions. Both Bravo and MAtS made the top 10 list of most expensive gk's ever, costing 12m each.

I read somewhere else Dani was dancing at the CWC celebrations and tried to cheer Marc up (which is true and pretty much just a video commentary - you could see it in the longer youtube clips but the goalie didn't budge so Dani and Ney continue dancing to Play Hard haha).

Other news/twitter accounts probably just reworded that article bit so it sounds like more than a one second or two moment on the pitch, like he visited him in the hotel room and they had a long conversation or whatever . Dani was all over the selfies players took with the trophy at the hotel later while absent Marc didn't even pose with the trophy and still hasn't post anything about winning CWC on his twitter/IG so I doubt anything happened tbh. Not that it's Dani's or anyone's responsibility to play dad of the team of course, he's the soul of the team anyways.

We can't even afford to pay 18 mil for Nolito, so yes right now we HAVE financial problems. And I believe Liverpool could pay 25 mil for MAtS. He is young, talented and quite hyped for being a backup. Also Premier league is financially strong enough, so we might see such offers more often now.

We are restricted due to FFP, I believe. We can spend in the summer. Just not this winter.
