Imo we should use him like Bravo, keep him playing in La Liga were he’s making unbelievable saves with no pressure on him. Play Neto or another keeper in CL.

I mean not even Jochaim Low or the Bayern management rate Ter Stegen highly.

I mean think about it...the best minds in German football don't rate him highly...There has to be a reason for that. Barca fans need to accept this reality.

Neto is :shit: We made a big mistake letting go of Cillessen so easily. Great keeper who didn't get many games and was probably just a notch below Ter Stegen level. I would argue Cilessen was better in corners/in the air than MATS

My man @Devils was the first one to call out this cat, by the way.

And now BBZ lands the finishing blow to the point where even the naysayers will have a difficult task defending.

Look, no one expects a prime Buffon performance every CL KO. But, if he is THAT guy (Neuer, Buffon level or close) then in at least 1 of the 5 humiliations he should have gone full beast mode and saved nearly everything.

50% of shots going in is an absolutely shocking stat with or without looking at the xG.

You can?t tell me that all of those shots that went in over the 4/5 games were ones that would usually go in and generally keepers wouldn?t save.

That's because of his saving style.

If Messi is shooting vs Buffon, Buffon will:
1. Take his position and close down the angle and make it harder for Messi
2. If the shot will go towards the far post, Buffon will bend down lower, make 1-2 steps, jump towards the far post and try to save the shot
3. If the shot will go towards his first post, he will bend down and try to save it with gloves

Now let's check our handball Gk:
1. He will take his position
2. If the shot will go near him, he will stand on his feet, try to make a reflex save with his feet and then he will fall on his ass
3. If the ball will go towards his far post, he will stay on his position, he won't move or jump, he will watch the ball and play a lottery:
1) if it goes in= oh, well. Bummer.
2) if it goes wide= awesome. He didn't jump either way.
4. If the ball will go to his first post, he will make a weird feet, arm, shoulder or chest save.

He will almost never save the ball with his gloves.
And he will rarely jump towards the ball.

Not to mention his problems with crosses and high balls.

So, Frosty is back.

Even made a couple of saves. In the tighter games like 4-4 and 4-3 on aggregate a couple of saves would have put us through...

Myth if you go back to my posts on this thread I called him out before anyone but was mocked for it

Clusterfeck of a thread. The unanimous opinion here before the match was that he is a damn good keeper and now it seems the opposite completely. He had a bad match, super shit one, move on.

False narrative building up where you cherry pick the humiliations and then go omg at the goals conceeded where the whole team was completely dysfunctional and couldn't stop the opposition creating chances. A role of GK is extremely limited. I don't think people understand this. That's why most penalties go in. When the opposition creates a great chance and hits the target well your GK can't do much shit most of the times.

A Gk is supposed to save the easy ones mostly, that's why the first thing that the keepers do is never be beaten on the near post. Bayern had mostly good shots on target and the result wouldn't have been much different with any other GK in that much although I am only talking about saves in that regard, his distribution could have indirectly caused goals too. Same with any other humilation, you put any Gk instead of him you'll not get a different result. He is a damn good GK but he has some issues in matches like these probably down to ego or something, Bayern's words pre match really affected him imo

All CL away KO matches are the same.
He rarely makes any saves.

And always get beaten after crosses, or when he tries to save the shots with his feet or he concedes goals from 20-30 maters.
Basically, he is good only in 1 vs 1 when he is able to close down the angle for the opponent.
Apart from 1 vs 1, he is shit in almost everything when he faces someone stronger than Getafe and Levante.

I hate his saves with feet, falling down on his ass every time, freezing.
Other gks try to make themselves big to stop the shot (by being larger).
For some reason, Mats plays as a handball Gk, trying to make reflex saves with his random feet and arms, and falling down on his ass during the process.

Buffon gets lower when the opponent gets close and then he jump with his arms to the ball.
Mats gets lower and then doesn't jump but try to make a save with his feet or shoulder.
Wtf.
He rarely jumps for the ball, this is why we used to call him Frozen/Frosty in his early days.

He takes a gamble, chooses one position and that's it.
He doesn't move or jump after that.
If the ball hits him=awesome.
If not=that's a goal.
In big matches, big players usually easily find a way around his goalkeeping style.

Extremely weird school of goalkeeping :/
Totally agree with every thing you say, and ihave
Been saying it for ages, his technique suck, its
All down to luck his saves.

Clearly a great GK who has a lot of 1v1 saves in La Liga. But agreed, he is not "elite" level. If he had been, he would have had at least 1 sensational performance in one of the humiliations, but he crumbled and looked done just as the rest of them.

"Germany is fortunate to have this pair of goalkeepers, although Neuer is truly world-class and Ter Stegen is still on his way to that level" - Karl-Heinz Rummenigge

Talked that shit before the match and proceeded to end any narrative that MAtS is a world class keeper.

One of the greatest ethers in football history. Gangster shit
