He won't leave but I've lost a lot of respect for him.

Messi: "I want to retire at Barcelona."
Iniesta: "I dream of retiring with the Blaugrana shirt on."
Puyol: "I'll retire here after Pique."
Xavi: ":xavi:"
Valdes: "You never know, I might want to experience different leagues aka I want more money after my fantastic performances last season, herp da derp."

even if he goes he would still be barcelonas legend and one of the best goalkeepers in barcas history.

Valdes is invaluable, Not because of his goal keeping skills, But after years and years of constant cursing at him from all around the world, And the many silly brain farts along the years, Has transformed his soul and heart into steel, There is nothing that can possibly break this guy's confidence anymore, You may laugh at this but it's true.
Do you know what's going to happen if we bought 'supposedly' another world class keeper, First thing is that he'll shit his pants after seeing how far pique and mascherano are, And one through ball past them which ends in a goal would break his confidence for only god knows how long.
The current valdes is a keeper than took years and years of polishing, We shouldn't waste that, But make the best use of it :D

It was like this the last time he had to renew, he and his agent were real dicks, he needs to be clapped in the face, but he won't leave, hush trying to get the best deal possible

Well said. He has been crafted to fit our play style.

Valdes:
“It is not the time for me to be worrying about it, there is still time. I’m focused on winning games. My dream is to retire here… time will tell.”
“I have spent 11 years here and as goalkeeper it is difficult in many ways. I do not rule out other cultures, other football, other countries, we will see.”

He has said before about wanting to experience other cultures, and I honestly don't see nothing wrong with it. Because I think he'd go when he's about to retire, not on 2014.

I think we'll have to sit this one out, until Valdes himself declare on the subject, as far as I'm concerned it is just a journalist ego trying to climb the media ladder in Madrid. Quim is a small player among the big hawks in Spanish sports journalism, he sees a chance to make a name for himself and break an exclusive story. The only thing he has going for him is that he is Catalan, yet he is still an easy pick for the established journalists as he is a bit young and naive.

I think I wrote a few months back in this thread that Valdes lacks motivation, it has been pretty clear now for an extended period of time that he is not able to perform even on the occasional game to his old standards. Whether this will result in a departure only time will tell, I think it is still to early to speculate on Valdes future as it will depend on many factors, Unzue said pretty straight out that the club needs to deal with Valdes lack of motivation and that it is an open question if he should stay of leave, in the end both Valdes and the club knows there are no real alternative out there to replace him with, a pretty good bargain position for Valdes if you ask me.

I think he is going to go. He earns less than Casillas and we won't offer him the same money as that, so he will go and get a last pay check probably in the prem. I would love to see Courtois come in, quality keeper, young and also used to La Liga now. However, Chelski are not going to sell unless we tap him up and get him to put pressure on Chelski to play him or lose him (you know the Madrid tactics).

BTW I love VV and will be sad to see him go but I think that is the only eventuality.

Last pay check? He's only 31, isn't he?
