Now, i'm not saying he's a bad goalkeeper, he's very good- but not among the best. Buffon, Cech, Casillas (maybe even Neur, Lloris..) are consistent goalies and that's what matters- not a few flashes and than conceiding some ridiculous goals.
I like Vlades, and want him to stay, but hopefully we'll find a worthy replacement if he leaves.... which I don't see reason for.

I don't agree with you that we have a great defense. To be honest, we have sucky defense and Valdes is always there to save our asses (penalties etc2). But you are right, he's a good keeper but not among the best. We can only hope he stays and retire with us. :)

We don't have a great defense agreed. But our defense rarely gets tested due to our high possession game (avg 70%) which is our best defense. Opposing teams sit deep and hit us on the counter. They get very few chances to score. That's why teams rarely score more than 2 goals against us. That's why Valdes rarely gets tested. If he makes mistakes they stick out because he makes much less saves compared to an EPL goalkeeper. Depending on your viewpoint he either has the easiest or the most difficult goalkeeping job in the world.
IMHO he is not world class like Casillas. He should realize this before demanding that he be put on the same pedestal as him (if the reports are true)

I cannot understand how people still critisizing a player that starred and won 3 Champions Keague finals and he still is in his prime..I thought that should be enough.. :shakeshead:

Nah. You are just one of the worst fanboys around. Regular fanboys are just unsuspecting kids idolizing a player. Usually, there is no malice and negativity in them.
