1 - Victor Valdes

No player endured such ungreatfulness as much as Valdes and the amount of hate he is receiving is unreal, and very bitter. I mean some of you are upset that he is leaving and at the same time think he wasn't that good.

He is leaving because he served the club for all his life time and he has rewarded the fans with 3 champions leagues and over 5 league titles, still in contention to up 1 each. Why can't he take his trade elsewhere, why is it that Barca is the end all be all for everyone and what does him coming through ranks/catalan have anything to do with his future plans?

He is 31, served the best he could and before he is really on an accelerated downhill spiral wants to try other leagues, what is the issue exactly? It is a different challenge, different atmosphere, different coach, different fans, and it is his only time.

Yall are so clingy, like very clingy. It is seriously disgusting. You really are not gracious and there is a reason why your players leave the club pissed off or never really look back.

If Xavi decided to go play for City, what would you call him? You really weren't anything of note before Valdes.

Well, with the risk of sounding pretenious and condescending, this is a football forum and the average football fan is not exactly a rocket scientist.

Also, a lot of the hate he gets is because of the way and the timing of the announcement. That's not to say you're right though and Valdes does get a buttload of shit he doesn't deserve.

Completely agreed. Although with the reservation that it'd be better if it'd been handled in another way.

I don't really hate Valdes for leaving. It's his choice and it's his career. He's done enough for us and he should be allowed to try other things if he wants to. However the problem that I see is finding an adequate replacement. It's hard to find someone who is a good fit and because of that, we are having to look at goalkeepers with the caliber of Reina. I hope we get a great keeper and I hope Valdes is happy wherever he ends up.

He gave the club a full 5 months to prepare for the summer and the sooner he said it the better. Nothing changes. Whether the club finds an adequate solution or not is Barca's problem not his, and since Barca > any indivisual, there is no trouble saying it when you are floating 8 points clear and against a weak AC Milan.

Valdes made no mistake.

The announcement to the media at this time was just wrong ,he could have told Zubi ,but there was no need to go to the media ,that made the situation chaotic ,people are angry because of that

Fixed. Btw, I don't really mind him leaving, he's a pretty average keeper imo. He's not at Barca's level, that's for sure. We didn't win those titles because of Valdes, we won them because of the rest of the team. It was a dick move of him to announce he's leaving now, he should have told the club officials and then publicly announced it in the summer, like Guardiola last year, but oh well. IMO, that's the reason people are hating on him. The timing could have been better, but I suppose it could have been worse. I respect his decision, but it was a bad one imo. It's gonna hurt him more than it does us. No matter which way you look at it, wherever he goes will be a step down. Lower wages and either no trophies or no playing time, maybe both. Meanwhile, we can get a goalie who's actually good enough to play for the best team in the world. This announcement can affect us badly in the short term (could be part of why we saw a little dip in form last week), but his leaving won't really affect us in the long term. But whatever, it's his choice.

Thanks to his announcement everyone and their mother knows we are desperate for a goalkeeper and they will milk Barca as much as they can. Prices will be jacked up. If he didn't announce it we could have said that we are in the market for some competition to Valdes which could have saved us some money

Exactly. His leaving itself doesn't really hurt us, but the timing of the announcement definitely could have been better. He should have told club officials, but not announced it publicly, at least until the end of the season, kinda like what Pep did last year. Oh well.

There's not one, not two, not three... there's a lot more reasons to give Valdés an ovation in Camp Nou.

Again you missed the most important thing about this whole matter even when it was mentioned in every single post in here, The fact that he insisted on giving this news to the press and refused postpone it until the end of the season, Even when the administration and even his team mates asked him for that, Care to give an explanation?
