1 - Victor Valdes

It was requested by Van Gaal, Valdes accepted. But he hasn't signed with them... If he does in the end, he'll bench De Gea :p

Ye it's clearly is a favour from Van Gaal. It's one of those things that will get the media talking though and you never know what could happen. I think the weirdest thing about it is that the club that seems like the most obvious destination for him once he is recovered is Liverpool. Mignolet is a disaster and I think Valdes to Liverpool in January is the obvious solution. Liverpool probably think that as well but just need him to get fit on time. Now he's getting fit at Utd.

LVG doesn't strike me as a big fan of DDG. And you can tell why. He barely comes off his lines, and his ball playing skills under pressure isn't up to par. VV is the better sweeper-keeper, and if he does sign up with thm, I expect LvG starting him over De gea.

I don't think United is the best option for him.

Valdes is already in Manchester. He will sign a contract at Man United if he passes the medical tests he will undergo in coming days. [md]

I'd hate to see VV go to a club I dislike but I wish him well on his future if he signs for Man United.

He has himself to blame, FC Barcelona was willing to offer him the same wage as Iniesta, 8 million euros net, that is almost 19 million a year for the club. But since he was so greedy he went with AC Monacos offer of 15 million net x 4 which is 60 million net. For FC Barcelona to match AC Monacos offer, they would have had to spend 140 million over 4 seasons in wages for Valdes, the club was willing to spend 75.

Anyway, Valdes is pretty up there, he blew 10 million on building his house in Gava Mar, the house took something like 7 years to build and then he sold the house just 4 years after moving in. The guy is clearly a complete nutcase.

Dude why call him a nutcase because he messed up financially? Do you know how bad things got in Spain after their recession and the property market going downhill? I work in Spain and I can tell you about so many people who have lost so much money and property and are desperate right now. Victor was unwise to screw with his money like that but he needed to take the best deal possible.

His family also made some bad investments in real estate as well so it wasn't just the house he made.

It seems his wage demands was too high for liverpool and they are looking elsewhere

I'd say Xtroverto is more of a nutcase around here considering how much pleasure he seem to get from Valdes struggling. You'd think Valdes stole some candy from him or something.

Man United goalkeeper De Gea was on Monday informed by coach Van Gaal that the club want to sign Valdes once he has recovered. [el pais]

Lol Man Utd fans would go crazy if LVG replaces DDG with VV, DDG has slowly earned the respect of everyone in England and even the press love him now, he has just said he doesn't want to go real. If LVG replaces DDG with VV and VV mucks up the press here would eat LVG alive. GK spot doesn't need to be improved.

Would be idiotic by Van Gaal if he tries anything like that.

people seem to think DDG is the best thing since sliced bread since the everton game where he made some good saves, the reality is he has been poor this season and united fans like myself were calling him out on his form before the everton game. he is too slow to come off his line which has cost us goals this season, and his passing/kicking out from the back has been poor also. every half decent shot flies into our net this season, he hasn't been saving anything the everton game aside. again in the last game against west brom he was too slow to come off his line and close down berahino, its like he is scared to come out of the area. victor valdes excels as a sweeper keeper which is what van gaal wants from a keeper, his kicking/passing is excellent and he's fast off his line to sweep up. if we sign valdes i would be concerned about his ability to deal with crosses/aerial balls into the box as that has always been valdes weakness as a keeper, which could get exposed more in the premier league then spain. however i can understand the reasons why if we sign him and i wouldn't be surprised if he becomes first choice ahead of de gea, he's only training with us at the moment tho so lets see what happens...

Are you seriously blaming DDG for our goals against West Brom, one shot was top class and went into the corner and whilst I agree DDG is not the best keeper for 1 on 1s he easily makes up for it with his shot stopping abilities. How you can blame him Berahino's goal not every is a Neur, its our defence who are at fault for that for letting him, and DDG always seems composed on the ball his clearance are pretty good in my opinion. Lets also not forget how young he is and how he can still develop with time. His major weakness was against crosses/aerial balls but that problem has become non existent now and to bring in Valdes would just harm his development and confidence when to me he is in the top 3 keepers of the league.

van gaal wants us to play a high line and press, that is not going to change as he has done that at all his clubs. like it or not that system requires a sweeper keeper, you cannot have a goalkeeper that is scared to come out of his box and pass the ball in that system. take a look at vardy's goal against us for leicester, i am sorry but that goal is on de gea, he had loads of time to come out and get to that ball before the striker but he stayed glued inside the box, then he didn't even make any attempt to save it. to say he is poor at one on ones is an understatement, if you have neuer or valdes as gk that goal doesn't happen in my opinion. if de gea stays as number 1 then he has to improve these aspects massively, even joe hart is better at this then him.
