Louis Van Gaal is living, breathing excrement, and I can only hope after United he is gone from this sport forever.

I have lost a lot of respect for VV ever since he left Barca. Seems like he is a sad piece of shit who didn't want to work at all for a spot in the 1st team. Also, whining about getting paid millions... HAHAHAHA.

LVG rewards hard work a lot and seems like he wanted to play due to his name alone.

I don't see anything wrong with what he said. If he could go back and change things, he'd rather live a normal life than be put under the spotlight and abused every time he makes a mistake. It's not an uncommon sentiment among famous people.

Oh, and fuck Van Gaal.

Valdes seems to be a depressive kind of player and he's expressing that in his interviews. People take it badly because they are only used to players who fuck models and post party selfies. I am sure Valdes is somebody that is reflecting a lot about his life. There's nothing wrong with that. Believe me, he does not mean the millions he earned or the praise he got in his good years.

Just to give you a hint, who is normally the goal keeper when you play as a kid?

I think there's more to his thoughts than is revealed in all these stories, especially considering the wrong turn after leaving Barca!

Footballers are insane individuals, most of them have no clue what real life is like. Go be unemployed like the rest of Spain or work construction for a few years then complain about being a millionaire playing football, sleeping with hot women and traveling the world admired by everyone.
Its an ungrateful thing to say imo, change lives with me or someone else, atleast I would enjoy it.

Of course footballers can be depressed but atleast watch your mouth at times. I would not be surprised seeing Valdes pull an Enke eventually base don his interview.

So just because he happens to have earned millions he has no right to be depressive? Are you kidding? He himself says how unreal the footballer's life is, how it is a superficial thing and how you are valued only if you perform on the pitch and let loose as soon as you have an injury... These are surely not the greatest insights but given that these come from a footballer, it shows how much he thinks about these issues. He could pull an Enke that is his very own decision, but criticizing him for not being fond of the money he got just because he's not a construction worker?

How do you know you're going to enjoy it? You just see the tip of the iceberg, that is the girls, the money, the champions league and the travelling around the world. Why would a construction worker be entitled to be depressed more than a footballer is? Again, Valdes is not complaining about earning too less or having no money to buy the newest hottest car, he talks about something totally different, about his fear of making mistakes as a goal-keeper, about his injury and his life...!

It's incredible how people get things wrong just because others have the privilege / chance / luck to have a supposedly great job as a footballer! I am sure most of us would switch places with Valdes any minute but this is because we just see the nice parts of the football industry: would you want to switch with his depressive being if he wouldn't be a famous goal keeper?

Very embarrassing post there, rasko. Just because you are rich and famous you can't feel sad. Valdés said from a very young age that he never really wanted to be a goalkeeper. Read a piece a few years ago "What he hated became his life". VV absolutely hated playing football for years as a kid.

So why did he continue? Do factory workers love their jobs? He should stop and think when giving interviews as those are meant for fans, average guys who have day jobs and fight to put food on the table, not his therapist.

Of course you can feel sad. But he's complaining a bit too much/acting as a victim and sounds removed from reality.

Since high school or even b4 it was always the guy with the very strong character .something that right now it seems VV isn't

I don't know why he continued. But with regards to the rest, the guy was just being honest. The whole point of the interview is to gain insight on what it's like. He could give fake answers but that's not the point.

I don't know if the guy is just a bit sad or if he is actually depressed. Is he complaining too much? Personally, this is the first time I hear of it. It was also just a part of a larger interview.

If i earn few millions a year... i would easily retire and live off the interest alone by the age of 24... no one will stop you... i'd love to sit with 7-8 Million Euro's in the bank.. who wouldn't ? he has a lot more

He could have done like Carlos Roa or something.. i find it very superficial to say he hated playing football while he still playing... retire you idiot you already have enough to make you live like a millionaire without sweating ever again !!

That's exactly the point I don't like about the post, it reduces life to having a great paying job which it isn't. There are plenty of people that are much happier than rich guys. The money gives you a lot of freedom but it just buys you some "happiness". I believe that there are people that have a tendency to be depressive and some that are genetically more happy than others. VV probably would have been the same guy when having just a job outside of football where nobody cares who he is. Now you come and tell me that in such a situation he's rather in a place to complain than as a famous goal keeper, which does not make any sense! There's a qualitative difference between somebody that is complaining of not getting paid enough (as a famous footballer) which you can criticize any day, but if somebody tells you about his inner feelings, insecurities, fears about being a goalkeeper, that is not whining! if you care to listen, you might learn about that person...! By the way, a lot of very successful people are very insecure even if they don't show it!

As a kid, mostly the goalkeeper was either the overweight kid or any other outsider!
