I really hope this doesn't affect our team's chemistry negatively. He could've done the professional thing and left during the summer, but now the way it is, I just don't see him giving his all for the upcoming matches.

As much as I like Victor and would like to thank him for the years service he has gave Barcelona, I think it would be best for both parties if he left now. And now to tar his name anymore.

Thanks for the memories Victor

The options:

Ter-Stegen
Pros: Young, great goalie (according to what I've heard), I hear he could potentially replace Neuer. He shouldn't be too hard to get either (he'll be pretty expensive, but he's playing for a fairly small team, so he should be willing to leave, especially if it's for a club like Barca).
Cons: Can't speak Spanish.

Courtois:
Pros: Young, and I believe he can speak Spanish.
Cons: Expensive, will be hard to get from Chelsea.

De Gea:
Pros: Young, good player of the ball (from what I've heard), can speak Spanish.
Cons: Mistake prone.

Lloris:
Pros: Fairly young, great goalie, and could be willing to leave Tottenham, especially if he's still on their bench.
Cons: Can't speak Spanish.

Neuer:
Pros: Great goalie, great ball player (off of what I've heard). Plays in a similar sytem to Barca (again, from what I've heard). The perfect option IMO.
Cons: Expensive as shit, and will be nearly impossible to get.

Just my 2 cents :p

Agreed guys.
While not among the best out there, Valdes was one of the best goalkeepers for Barca, and I remember back to Zubizarreta days.

As for being grateful.. Well that's what the money is for. And aside from few odd matches, the fans were very much grateful. And so were the previous and this board and all the coaches.

I thought being a Catalan means you stay loyal to Barca to the end but obviously "desire for a new challenge" is stronger for some.
GL to him until the end of season and in his future but for me, Valdes just sank a level.
+1 though I think that he was one of the best, atleast until he made that mistake at Bernabeu.

+1, agree on everything
at least he had a decency to announce he will leave now....if he announced it in summer we would be in serious trouble
No, he didn't have any decency by announcing this when the team is still fighting for trophies and especially after we had a bad result in the Cup. He could have waited until the club found a replacement and let Zubi make the announcement, like Pep did.
I really hope that the team won't be affected by this..and that he won't make any mistake because the Camp Nou crowd can be ruthless.

We will have him for at least six months!
Anyway that is very sad news..I was thinking the other day that Valdes would retire as the player with the most apperances as barca player, ahead of Xavi. That's how big part of our success VV has been.
I guess that Valdes just like Pep cannot deal with the pressure that well..

With the small difference that Pep waited months until the big titles were decided and Tito accepted to take over..and he didn't leaked the news to Punto Pelota before having informed the club.

The balls of Valdes to do this now is utterly ridiculous, where is he going to go and get the same level of backing from coaches and fans. Most top teams have their number one's sorted and I'm sure he won't to be second choice. Sell him in the summer and start the search for the new number one now. I am very angry at this even though their have been rumours around for a while. I hope for his sake his form doesn't suffer as he will get a lot of abuse.:fool:::evil::evil::evil::blowup:

Wow, it takes great balls to leave a club when you know they want you and are the best history has ever produced. Gotte give him that respect. On the other hand, I don't understand it. Why would he want to leave? Is it really just looking for new challenges, not enough money aka another team promises much more? From all the players I would have never thought that Valdes would leave.

This club has always supported you, even when the fans turned against you. This isn't the way to leave this club. If I were Vilanova, I would bench him and start with Pinto. No matter how bad he is, at least he's loyal to the club. I won't forgive you Valdes, never.

The timing of making his intention clear to leave wasn't perfect, but calm down. He just wants to get to know other cultures, play in a different league and play at a club with a bit fewer pressure (like Pep). He isn't leaving for more money or because he doesn't like the club anymore.

And another thing..no matter how dissapointed we are with VV, we shouldn't forget that the only lier in this story was Zubi. And that's why I would take everything that Mundo Sandritivo says with a pinch of salt. They are not a paper that supports Barca no matter what, they only care about Ro$ell and how to make him look innocent in any situation.

The way he and his agents handled this was very bad and disrespectful. And I bet money was what spoke louder here, not just "other cultures". But I respect his decision to leave, everyone is free to do whatever they want with their lives. I just really think this could, and should, had been handled some other way. Not with this "don't even propose anything, I'm not listening lalalala, I'm leaving" way.

Doobs

I can't help but feel he's bitter about something, maybe i'm wrong but thetiming of the announcement is very odd and he's jeopardised the teams mindset.

I read that his team mates tried to talk him down from announcing the news at this time, But he refused saying he doesn't want to delude anyone about something that definitely won't happen (Him renewing)
