10 - Ansu Fati

For his age doesn't count, it's a fan's made-up expression. All talents try to do is to reach world class status by the time they are 24-25. A select bright few manage do that sooner, the insane talents like Messi, Cristiano, Mbappe, but most bright talents get lost in the process because they don't have what it takes to go all the way. Ansu Fati's case is getting clearer and clearer, in that he was not a premiere level talent.

No it does count... fans/clubs get excited about potential young players show.

No one claims he has to a 'premier talent' from here anyway in line with those names. How some rated him at 17 is no longer relevant.

Far worse players at Barca than Fati been over rated.

Up to him to show what can do at Brighton.

True, but making it at Brighton is a midstep. He has to make it at Brighton only to get a shot at proving himself again at a top club. He had that at Barcelona already, so he basically suffers a career penalty for being shit at Barcelona.

That is where he is at... going to Brighton to prove he deserves another chance at Barca or can get a move to a bigger club.

He cant complain if doesnt work as about best place can be for a young attacking player to grow really.

Again its irrelevant what he has had at Barca to this point really if looking forward.

There are a ton of reasons why he should move on... try to get confidence back with regular football if that is an issue, play in a system that suits him etc.

That's true. From his point of view, he has to become a clear starter at Brighton, grow as a player from doing that, and go back to a big club. Tough road ahead. Curious how he is gonna handle the pace in EPL. It's quite similar to what teams experience in Champions League in terms of intensity and speed of play.

Even being a top player for a second tier EPL team would be huge for him and improve his situation compared to Barca.

Fair play to him for going to EPL and Brighton to take that chance.

It is good for him, Barca and Xavi really.

It's because he got overrated to high heavens based basically on some great goals vs La Liga dross. As if the guy scored some hattrick in some CL quarterfinal vs Bayern or something. This goes right down to the core of Barca's fiber as a club, it's just not a club used to manufacture success in an institutional way. Quite lacking pragmatism and realism.

It's all fine though, Barca always was for me a dreamy club that occasionally gets it brilliantly right, but most of the time they make bad decisions, the 2-3 truly legendary periods in the club's history have been tied to 4-5 genius individuals that transformed their eras and this club as a whole. Not much beyond that.

So cases like Ansu are par for the course basically. Maybe we learn from that and don't repeat it with this Lamal kid, but I am skeptical. I already see fans wanting to give the no10 shirt to this child. Only thing that's left is 2-3 knee injuries in the following years and we are set.
LaLiga dross, eh.

Ajax & Marseille in their Europa League group. Everything looks good for now, he has an amazing opportunity to shine.

Roberto De Zerbi on Ansu Fati: “If you work with these talents you have more responsibility because it’s football heritage. We can’t make mistakes with this player because football needs his talent. You have to manage it in a different way.”

Xavi on Ansu Fati: “Get me Busquets”

Foremost good luck to Ansu.

This is likely a goodbye, as Xavi has clearly shown his low rating of Fati. Even a manager change next year could still end like the agony with Coutinho post-Bayern loan spell.

With Ansu's salary (allegedly partial) out of the books (Lenglet as well) this could mean there is a possibility for a last moment transfer. Doesn't make sense leaving this big space in salary cap just for Inigo Martinez.

If he does well at Brighton it will also reflect poorly on Xavi. How come a Manager at a mid-tier club can get the best out of him, but one at Barcelona cannot?

Maybe, you know, the pressure at a big club is much higher than at Brighton, a team nobody expects to win any titles. Many players simply do better in a low pressure environment and can't cope with the huge expectations that come with playing for a big team, especially wearing the no10 shirt.
