Ursegor master of all trolls. Don't feed him he ain't worth it.
Just as the award itself which holds perfect transparency to the public not some FIFA conspiracy award as some people ignorantly still think. Coaches, Captains and Journalists all over the globe.
Impossible for someone like Iniesta to win. The "minor footballing/non-footballing nations" are making a joke out of the whole award.
Algeria: 1. Messi 2. Ronaldo 3. Thomas Müller (Thomas Müller the third best footballer in the world, REALLY?!)
Andorra: 1. Messi 2. Dani Alves 3. Xavi (Alves the second best footballer in the world, REALLY REALLY?!)
British Virgin Islands: 1. Fabregas 2. Messi 3. Ronaldo lol
Burundi: 1. Neymar 2. Abidal 3. Benzema (What in the ...?!)
New Zealand: 1. Agüero 2. Xabi Alonso 3. Rooney (...)
Tonga: 1. Dani Alves 2. Agüero 3. Rooney (...)
etc.
I wouldn't allow non-relevant football countries to vote. Appoint experts from Germany, Italy, England, France, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Paraguay etc. and get it done with. What's the point in letting Djibouti vote for Benzema as the best player in the world?
I expect Agüero to finish in the top 5 in the Ballon d'Or votings this season because of the Martin Tyler "AgüerooOOOOOOO" scream from last season which is being repeated every day on SKY Sports (and the Premier League is the most prevalent league). And probably Torres as well for winning the CL and EC.
putting aside stats for a moment as "no80s" put it, its all about the Magic.
I already wrote something about the Ballon d'Or in another thread. I'll just quote myself:
It's transparent, yes. It's also a popularity contest. Players like Xavi, Iniesta or Pirlo would get more of these individual awards if only a small circle of journalists from football-revelant countries could vote. And not the captain of Tonga simply because Messi or Ronaldo are popstars in their countries. 2010:
Captains:
Germany (Philipp Lahm): 1. Iniesta 2. Sneijder 3. Messi
France (Alou Diarra): 1. Iniesta 2. Xavi 3. Sneijder
England (Rio Ferdinand): 1. Sneijder 2. Iniesta 3. Xavi
Italy (Gianluigi Buffon): 1. Iniesta 2. Sneijder 3. Casillas
Portugal (Cristiano Ronaldo): 1. Xavi 2. Casillas 3. Sneijder
Coaches:
Germany (Joachim Löw): 1. Xavi 2. Messi 3. Forlan
France (Laurent Blanc): 1. Xavi 2. Sneijder 3. Iniesta
England (Fabio Capello): 1. Iniesta 2. Xavi 3. Maicon
Italy (Cesare Prandelli): 1. Sneijder 2. Iniesta 3. Messi
Portugal (Paulo Bento): 1. Xavi 2. Messi 3. Iniesta
Weird. If it's about magic, hands down, Iniesta wins by a country mile. There hasn't been a player as gracious as Iniesta since Zidane.

Ursegor, you should know that your wish of keeping specialists from certain more lets say "advanced" Footballing countries as the judge was actually the case in 2009 in the shape of some award called the "Ballon d'or" and guess who won that award in 2009 before polluting it with the other nations......
