Yeah for a while it also had goals per game ratios etc. If you want to check his assist and goal stats just use this. Its a fantastic resource for Messi. It even includes underage goals and charity matches.

No reliabre sources (eg espn and transfermarkt have different count), no steady assist criteria, different in every league. I think those were main reasons for remove. See more info from Wikiproject Football or Messi talk page (/archive) in Wikipedia.
